A star of Love Island has made the huge announcement that she is now a mum for the first time. She revealed she had given birth to her baby son as fans gushed over the little tot.

Sharon Gaffka starred in the 2021 edition of the ITV2 reality titan before being unceremoniously dumped from the Island. Since then, the star has entered the political sphere, and found love with her partner Matthew Torbitt.

Now, after popping the question, the couple have announced they have welcomed their first child into the world together. The pair have not revealed the baby’s name, as an adorable set of snaps was released on her social media.

Taking to her Instagram on Friday (July 17), she make a cheeky dig at England’s national football team in the caption. Sharing a beautiful pic of the sleeping tot, she penned: “Football might not have come home, but someone else did.”

The baby was seen sleeping peacefully in a teeny baby grow with puppy patterns as doting mum Sharon beamed with pride for her new arrival. Fans were quick to share in the happiness at the announcement, with a slew of fans gushing over the happy couple.

Love Island co-star Paige Thorne, who starred in the same series of the show as Sharon, was ecstatic at the news, writing: “Congratulations! Hope you guys have the happiest memories.” Meanwhile, Liberty Poole said: “Congratulations, he’s gorgeous.”

Other former Islanders such as India Reynolds and Joanna Chimonides also gave the pair their best wishes. Fans also shared their happy sentiments, with one user adding: “Oh my goodness! A massive congratulations to you both, hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to your new chapter.”

Last month, Sharon confirmed she was planning to bring her son into the world using a C-sections, but admitted she chose to undergo the procedure. She also explained this decision went against what doctors had advised her.

Chatting to Vanessa Feltz on her Channel 5 show, she explained she decided to go for a C-section after looking at her options, even though medics had claimed she was well enough for a vaginal birth. She went on to explain she didn’t want “an assisted birth”.

She went on to say: “I don’t want some of these stories to play out in my birthing plan.” She later: “I think that some of the midwives I spoke to were reluctant to put me forward, but I hadn’t changed my mind anytime we’d gone in for a midwife appointment.

“I’m not one of those people to change my mind or budge once I’ve made my mind up; that’s what I want to do,” she added. “And I’ve been very fortunate that the regular midwife I had has supported me through that.”
