Jeremy Clarkson has had a close brush with death after he ignored his doctor’s orders to rest following heart surgery and was left struggling for breath while filming series five of Clarkson’s Farm
Jeremy Clarkson has suffered another health scare while shooting the latest series of Clarkson’s Farm. And he admitted to the cast and crew of his show that he should not have come back so early.
The ex-Top Gear presenter, 66, recently had to be rushed to hospital for emergency surgery on his heart. He was then told by doctors to take it is easy, but despite being given the advice, it appears the controversial favourite chose to ignore what was said.
Jeremy has now suffered a close brush with death as he suffered a serious health issue while the cameras were rolling for the fifth season of the show. He has now learned his lesson and revealed the real reason as to why he even showed up.
Throughout the filming of Clarkson’s Farm − and general farm work − Jeremy prefers to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in, according to the Express. But in new episodes of the series, it seems this was a real problem for the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? host.
In harrowing scenes, he was seen gasping for air as he tried to fell a Christmas tree in the second episode in preparation for the holiday season. This came despite explicit instructions from his doctor that he needed to rest.
He was spotted lying on his belly at the base of the tree, hacking at it with a saw, before finally deciding to quit as he found himself short of breath. He then turned to his film crew and admitted: “I shouldn’t have done that”.
He later quipped with the crew that the “reaper will have to wait” as he returned to the farm following his heart operation. The start of the new series marked the first time he and Kaleb Cooper had met face-to-face since Jeremy was rushed to hospital with his heart scare.
Clarkson could be seen telling his co-star that it was “f*****g close”, confessing he asked doctors how near he was to a heart attack only to be told “days”. Clarkson previously revealed details about the experience to Heart Breakfast presenters Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, revealing to the duo he was now feeling “absolutely fine” and has shed pounds thanks to “fat jabs”.
He continued: “It was quite a fraught year last year but no, I’m absolutely fine now. Tickety-boo.”
However, when discussing the upcoming series, Clarkson informed the presenters: “It is the most dramatic one of the shows we have done so far. And it gets more and more dramatic towards the end. Yeah, I’ll say no more than that because we’re not actually doing any PR for this series at all.”
The new series is now just days from being broadcast, with the initial episodes dropping on June 3. However, previews for the upcoming series have already begun surfacing and confirm viewers are heading for a dramatic beginning.
