The UK has been battling heatwave after heatwave in recent months, and we’ve all been urged to invest in air-conditioning . . . so the Daily Star’s Adam Cailler did just that thanks to BOXT
If the last few British summers have taught us anything, it’s that our homes are built to keep heat in . When the inevitable heatwave strikes, sleeping becomes a luxury, and working from home turns into a sweaty endurance test. That’s exactly why I decided to bite the bullet and invest in domestic air conditioning.
Everyone is going to need air conditioning in their homes soon as summers get more intense, so my logic was simple: why not do it with a company where the entire process is smooth and completely hassle-free? I went with cooling and heating specialists BOXT to install the Bosch Climate 3000i 3.5kw unit, and the difference it has made is night and day.
Here is my honest review of both the fitting service and the unit itself.
The BOXT Installation: Fast, Tidy, and Stress-Free
Having tradespeople in the house can sometimes feel chaotic, but the BOXT engineers were a breath of fresh air (pun intended). The process from the initial online booking to the post-installation check-up was incredibly smooth.
On the day of the fit, the guys were punctual, polite, and worked efficiently. The installation was quick, brilliantly simple, and best of all – there was absolutely no mess left behind. They treated my home with respect, routing the pipework neatly and ensuring everything was securely connected and tested before they even thought about packing up. Having a company that sorts everything from A to Z really takes the stress out of the upgrade.
The Inside Unit: Bosch Climate 3000i (3.5kw)
Once mounted, I was immediately struck by how sleek and slender the indoor unit is. You often worry that an AC unit is going to stick out like a sore thumb in a living space or bedroom, but the Bosch Climate 3000i blends in effortlessly.
More importantly, it packs a serious punch when it comes to cooling, without sounding like a jet engine. It’s incredibly quiet yet undeniably powerful.
The controls are simple and easy to use straight out of the box, but a massive bonus is the option to install a USB dongle. This makes the unit fully app-compatible (using the Bosch HomeCom Easy App), meaning you can turn on the cooling on your commute home so you walk into a perfectly chilled house.
The Outside Unit: Big, But Surprisingly Quiet
Let’s talk about the outdoor condenser unit. There’s no getting around it: it is big. However, that is simply the way the UK domestic AC market is going now as units become more robust and energy-efficient (handling both cooling in summer and heating in winter).
My biggest piece of advice? Just don’t put it at the front of your house. Work with your installer to find a discreet spot on a side wall, rear garden, or tucked away out of direct street view.
Despite its imposing size, I was genuinely shocked by how quiet the outdoor unit is while running. You might expect a massive fan to cause a racket that annoys the neighbours, but it just hums away reasonably quietly in the background while doing the heavy lifting.
The Verdict
If you’re still on the fence about getting air conditioning for your home, take it from me: it is a total gamechanger.
With the inevitable rising temperatures, AC is transitioning from a luxury to a household necessity. Upgrading your home with the Bosch Climate 3000i via BOXT takes all the headache out of the process, leaving you with a perfectly chilled house, a tidy installation, and zero buyer’s remorse.
