What we know about actor James Handy’s death
- Actor James Handy, known for his roles in Jumanji and Top Gun: Maverick, has been stabbed to death outside his home in Los Angeles.
- The 81-year-old was found unconscious in his front garden with a stab wound to his chest on Wednesday morning. He was rushed to hospital but later pronounced dead.
- His girlfriend’s son, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, was arrested following his death and is accused of murder.. Police went to the scene after an emergency 911 call, in which the caller said: “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
- Police responded to the distressing call at around 9:30am at Handy’s home in Tarzana. Officers found the veteran actor unconscious in his front yard suffering from the fatal chest wound.
- The suspect reportedly told police he was the person they were looking for. He lives at the property with his mother, who is Handy’s girlfriend.
- Police said: “Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time.”
- Handy’s career spanned from the 1970s and included roles in The West Wing, NYPD Blue, Castle and The X-Files.
