OPINION: Daily Star reporter Carly Hacon revealed the wildest moments she spotted at the NTAs, from red carpet wardrobe blunders and outrageous confessions to emotional speeches and after-party chaos
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from covering the National Television Awards, it’s that you never quite know what you’re going to see.
One minute you’re trying to get your notes together on the red carpet, the next you’re watching dresses become tangled, stars reveal their secrets and TV legends cause chaos around you. I was at the NTAs last night for Daily Star, and from the moment the first famous faces arrived, things got gloriously unpredictable.
Between unexpected run-ins, emotional speeches, outrageous confessions and plenty of after-party antics, there was never a dull moment. Here are some of the craziest things I saw…
Katie Price fangirling over Julia and Lorenzo
Even the celebs aren’t immune to a bit of star struck behaviour – and Katie was positively buzzing when she spotted ITV winners Julia and Lorenzo.
Katie could be seen approaching the couple on the red carpet before entering the big awards bash, she appeared to tell them how she “loved” watching them on the show.
It was a lovely reminder that even when you’re one of the UK’s most famous faces, there’s always someone who can still make you go into fan mode.
Alan Carr tells fans to ‘shut up’
Alan Carr was, well, Alan Carr… A legend!
While making his way along the red carpet, the comedian jokingly told fans to “shut up” as they chanted his name before later making a very Alan-style confession and declaring himself a “slag”.
It was classic Carr – chaotic, outrageous and delivered with the sort of confidence only he could pull off. This came after he revealed he wanted to go on Naked Attraction.
When revealing what other TV shows he’d like to have a pop at, he quipped: “Naked Attraction. I think it’s about time to give the people what they don’t want.” We also asked if he’d like to be one of the singletons revealing themselves in the pod, he joked: “Of course, yeah. I’d love it to come up and people will see my knees… if they’re lucky they might [see more].” Bursting out laughing, he added: “Can you imagine! It would be the worst rated show ever,” before pretending to vomit. Asked if there were any TV shows he wouldn’t do, he joked he’d do all of them as he said: “I don’t know, I’m just a s***!”
Kelly Osbourne hits back at mum Sharon
There was also a more serious moment when Kelly Osbourne was quizzed on the red carpet about mum Sharon’s controversial political views, including her stance on Tommy Robinson and the trans community.
Kelly made it clear she doesn’t simply share her mum’s opinions, telling Attitude: “I don’t agree. I don’t agree with her. I don’t agree with my mom now.”
She admitted it can be difficult disagreeing with a parent she loves, adding: “It’s hard because I love my mum, but I also have to understand she’s entitled to her opinions as well.”
Tasha and Lucinda’s wardrobe blunder
The red carpet nearly became a fashion emergency for Love Island stars Tasha Ghouri and Lucinda Strafford.
The pair somehow managed to get the tassles on their dresses caught up together while posing – creating a brief wardrobe nightmare right in front of everyone.
Thankfully, neither seemed too bothered and they both laughed the whole thing off.
And honestly, if you’re going to have a red carpet blunder, laughing about it is probably the best way to handle it.
Charlotte Crosby’s baby-making confession
Charlotte Crosby had one very clear plan for the rest of the year – trying for another baby with fiancé Jake Ankers.
The Geordie Shore star, who already shares daughters Alba-Jean and Pixi with Jake, told Daily Star at the NTAs: “Honestly so boring, I’m just going to try and have a baby. I’m basically just s****** constantly.”
She added: “There’s no room for anything else! It’s just constant.”
Charlotte then joked that all the bedroom activity would probably leave her with “thrush”, admitting there wasn’t much room in her schedule for anything else.
Amanda Holden gets shoved by Paloma Faith
There was also a rather unexpected moment involving Amanda Holden and Paloma Faith.
Amanda was given a shove by her pal, leaving her momentarily caught off guard during their tribute to mutual friend Alan Carr, before he received his Special Recognition Award.
Amanda Holden, Paloma Faith, Kate Garraway, Charlotte Church and David Olusoga serenaded him with “I Know Him So Well” – while Paloma was dramatically wheeled out in a coffin, a nod to Alan’s memorable murder of her on Celebrity Traitors.
Paloma and Amanda played up to the fact they are both close friends to the comic as they battled it out vocally on stage during their song for Alan. But Paloma surprised the BGT panellist with a playful push before they carried on hitting their high notes.
Alan Carr breaks down after surprise NTA honour
Away from the jokes, there was a genuinely emotional moment when Alan Carr was left in tears on stage. After all the silliness of the red carpet, seeing the comedian visibly emotional was a striking change of tone.
It was one of those NTA moments that reminded me why the ceremony is about much more than just the outfits and gossip.
One of the biggest moments of the night came when Alan was left fighting back tears after being surprised with the NTAs’ prestigious Special Recognition Award.
The honour, which is the only NTA category not decided by the public, was kept secret from Alan until the very last moment. He was sitting in the audience when his Celebrity Traitors co-stars took to the stage for a very unusual tribute.
After collecting the award, Alan thanked viewers for their support, saying: “It’s amazing. It’s been very surreal and triggering. But thank you, because if you didn’t watch the shows and vote, then I wouldn’t be here.”
It was an especially fitting tribute after a huge year for the comedian, who became one of the breakout stars of Celebrity Traitors and has continued to make waves with his semi-autobiographical sitcom Changing Ends.
Priya and Aidan reunite
Then came the after-party – where things got even more interesting.
Love Island 2026 stars Priya and Aidan were spotted chatting despite having split earlier this week, making for one of those slightly awkward reality TV moments you can’t help but notice.
Whatever the history between them, the pair appeared happy enough to talk, proving that reality TV drama doesn’t always stay as dramatic once the cameras are off.
Congrats for staying civil, guys!
And then I met the GC…
But perhaps my most important after-party encounter came when I bumped into the one and only Gemma Collins.
Naturally, there was only one thing I could do. I got the obligatory selfie with the former TOWIE icon.
Because really, what kind of NTA night would it have been without photographic evidence that I had met The GC…?
From tangled tassles and outrageous confessions to emotional speeches and after-party reunions, the NTAs delivered exactly what you’d hope for – plenty of glamour, plenty of gossip and absolutely no shortage of chaos.
The NTAs were hosted at London’s O2 Arena and saw the best in the TV biz come together for a night of celebration including This Morning hosts, Love Islandstars and soap actors alike.
Drinks were generously provided by Kylie Minogue, Gary Barlow, Heineken, and Birra Moretti, while the unforgettable atmosphere was expertly orchestrated by events agency Scenario UK.
