Conor McGregor responds to Floyd Mayweather’s Instagram video
Conor McGregor has responded to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s recent Instagram and Twitter posts, which are currently causing a buzz in the combat sports world.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mayweather posted a video of him entering an Octagon to the social media platforms and looking menacingly at the camera, which fuelled speculation that he could soon fight in the UFC.
The clip soon caught the attention of McGregor, who tweeted: “Hahahaha very good. Keep up the good work my son. Yours sincerely, Senior.”
That tweet was followed by another which included a picture of the Irishman and his son, Conor Jr.
The accompanying caption read: “F**k the Mayweathers.”
Nate Diaz put on blast by Eddie Alvarez
Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has claimed Nate Diaz is avoiding a fight with him as he only wants to fight McGregor.
“The more I think about it, the more I’m like: When Conor takes a break, Nate takes a break,” Alvarez said during an appearance on The MMA Hour.
“Conor’s like, ‘I ain’t fighting until August,’ and Nate’s like, ‘Well, I ain’t fighting until July,’ or some sh*t. I guess his ego doesn’t let him say, ‘I just want to fight Conor.’ Just say it. Like, just be honest with everyone.
“If that’s who you want to fight, there’s nothing wrong with that. But don’t call everyone out if you don’t have any intention of fighting anybody.
“You’re getting a bunch of fans excited who you’re just bullsh*tting. If you don’t want any work from any lightweight in the division, then just don’t say anything to any of the lightweights in the division and everything will be cool.
“But when you say things like that, you should be ready to at least fight somebody.”
Chris Weidman eyes interim middleweight title fight
Chris Weidman has his sights set on fighting for the interim middleweight title after his thumb heals.
“I can see myself potentially jumping in there for a title shot against maybe the winner of the fight coming up, depending on Whittaker’s health,” the former UFC middleweight champion told MMAFighting.com.
“I’d get a rematch with Rockhold which has been a long time coming. We were supposed to have that rematch right away and my surgery held that up.
“Or Yoel Romero. Both those fights would be great. If not that, you got ‘Jacare’ who just came off a great win. I don’t mind that fight, either.”
