Bain has quit a loan spell with Hibernian in a complex deal which sees Celtic midfielder Scott Allan swap his Dundee loan for Hibs and Simon Murray move in the opposite direction to Dens Park.
Hibs head coach Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound: “Scott’s on his way to Glasgow, Simon’s on his way to Dundee and Scott Allan’s on his way to Edinburgh.”
Celtic earlier had a second £375,000 bid for Motherwell keeper Trevor Carson rejected as they sought cover for the injured Craig Gordon and they hope to succeed with an improved offer for 22-year-old Dundee defender Hendry.
Alfredo Morelos was on the bench for Rangers in their William Hill Scottish Cup tie at Fraserburgh after manager Graeme Murty confirmed there had been serious interest from China. Ibrox sources claimed an £8million offer had been tabled by Beijing Renhe.

Hibs completed a loan deal for Grasshopper Zurich striker Florian Kamberi and confirmed the departure of Anthony Stokes and Liam Fontaine with the latter joining Ross County, who also added 19-year-old West Brom left-back Max Melbourne on loan.
Hearts completed the loan signing of 25-year-old Angola midfielder Joaquim Adao from Swiss side Sion and continued their search for a new striker.
Motherwell signed former Hamilton and West Ham left-back Stephen Hendrie on loan from Southend and were closing in on a new striker.
St Johnstone completed loan deals for Fulham and Wales winger George Williams and Manchester United midfielder Matty Willock but looked to have been frustrated in attempts to bring in Aberdeen winger Scott Wright and Kilmarnock wide player Rory McKenzie.
Kilmarnock signed full-back Aaron Simpson on loan from Wolves with Daniel Higgins (Airdrie) and Dean Hawkshaw (Stranraer) moving out on temporary deals. Cammy Bell left Rugby Park and was replaced by on-loan West Brom goalkeeper Jasko Keranovic.
Hamilton manager Martin Canning signed 20-year-old Manchester United midfielder Charlie Scott on loan but was still aiming to sign three more.
Partick Thistle released defender Milan Nitriansky, who made the last of his seven appearances in mid-October.
