Celtics inquire about Kyle O’Quinn

The New York Knicks currently have four centres on their roster and are said to be wiling to listen to offers for O’Quinn.

Golden State were linked with a possible move for O’Quinn last week but it has now emerged the Boston Celtics have also entered the race.

That’s according to NBC Sports Boston reporter A. Sherrod Blakely, who claims several teams are interested in taking O’Quinn.

Boston are much improved from last year when they finished fourth bottom in the league in rebounds per game.

They are now currently ranked 10th due to the additions of Aron Baynes and Marcus Morris.

But O’Quinn, who is averaging 6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 16.9 minutes would add some much needed size to Boston’s roster.

Kevin Love injury pressures Cavs into trade move

Former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin believes Kevin Love’s injury will force Tyronn Lue into the trade market.

The Cavaliers have been endured terrible luck with injuries this season. Isaiah Thomas was out for the first half of the season while Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert have both suffered significant injuries.

But Love, who was voted for his fifth All-Star last week, is now expected to be out for nearly the rest of the season.

And Griffin believes the Cavaliers will be urgent to bring in somebody before the trade deadline.

He told NBA show The Starters: “I think they probably felt pressure already to do something. I don’t think it really brings into play the Nets picked anymore than it was before because you’re still looking at it, if you don’t get someone who’s a younger player with some sustainability either on their contract or upside in their game, you’re still taking the same roll of the dice that you beat Golden state.

“That’s a difficult leap to take. I don’t think it puts the Brooklyn pick more in play but I do think it’s going to change their timeline and their level of urgency to get something going.”

Tyreke Evans latest

The Memphis Grizzlies will not play Tyreke Evans now until a deal can be completed for his trade, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans are all said to be interested in taking the 28-year-old.

Memphis are said to be trying to retrieve a first-round pick in return for Evans.
