McGregor nipped over the pond earlier this week to attend a charity event in his honour at the New York’s Children Medical Research Foundation.
The UFC’s lightweight champion received an award for his substantial donations to the Our Ladies Children’s Hospital of Crumlin in Dublin.
His trip to ‘The Big Apple’ didn’t stop his preparations for his long-awaited UFC return as he took part in a training session with Dillon Danis and John Kavanagh yesterday afternoon.
McGregor posted snaps of his grappling session with Danis, who helped prepare the Irishman for his rematch with Nate Diaz, to his Instagram story earlier today.
‘The Notorious’ latest Instagram update came a little less than 48 hours after he revealed he’s in the process of negotiating his long-awaited return to the Octagon.
“I’m currently in the negotiation stage,” he told Adam Glyn. “There are multiple opponents on the platform.”
“Of course I would love to get that one [against Floyd Mayweather] back.
“I felt I went into his realm and I felt handy early on, he had to wait for me to get tired.”
When pressed further on his comeback fight the next day, Mcgregor added: “As soon as we get the deal done, I’m ready to go.
McGregor is confident he’ll return to the UFC by year’s end, adding: “Oh I believe so.
“We talked last night,” he said. “So they are who I’m thinking of. But the fight game changes so quick and so many times, so we’ll see.
“As I said. I’m at the negotiation table right now.”
