Batshuayi sealed a loan switch to Borussia Dortmund yesterday, while the Blues sealed a deal for striker Olivier Giroud for a fee of around £20million.

On the pitch, the Blues had a night to forget as they crashed to a 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth.

Conte’s men were pulled apart, with old boy Nathan Ake getting on the scoresheet.

Batshuayi struggled to get regular game time at Stamford Bridge with Alvaro Morata spearheading the attack, but he will now get a chance to prove himself at Dortmund.

However, Conte thinks it is a little too simplistic to suggest that Batshuayi leaving contributed to the Blues’ woeful display against the Cherries.

He said: “Now it would be very simple to find excuses and that’s not the right way.

“For sure we made a lot of mistakes together.

“When we win, we win together and when we lose, we lose together.”

Chelsea’s result cast a doubt over their top-four chances, even though they are two points ahead of Tottenham who beat Manchester United 2-0 at Wembley last night.

When asked whether he feels any pressure concerning his own job, he said: “About the pressure, it’s normal for a coach and manager.

“It’s normal if you are Chelsea’s coach. After the first game of the season you (the media) tried to put pressure on my job.

“I’m trying to do my best. We are giving everything, 120 per cent and I think I’m exploiting this squad at the maximum level.”
