The beauty of track shorts lies in their comfort and versatility. While Hailey Bieber has repeatedly opted for tight short-shorts with gym class energy, Zendaya has always been attracted to more androgynous pieces. “Nine times out of 10 I was shopping in the boys section,” she told Glamour of her childhood shopping habits in 2017. “I wore cargo shorts and hoodies. That was my uniform.”

It’s no wonder she gravitated towards LV creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s feminine take on masculine athletic shorts. Contrasting the flowy satin with a structured leather jacket is a very simple way to elevate the piece for a night out, whether you’re stepping out in four-inch heels like Zendaya or a more walkable pair of kitten heels or ballet flats. Frankly, there’s no use risking a broken ankle or blisters if you haven’t trained for the red carpet.

The key to dressing like Zendaya is not actually rooted in any one piece or aesthetic, it’s the confidence to wear your clothes in the way that fits your personal style. Coincidentally, that’s why track shorts are becoming so popular anyway.
