It’s an outfit that shouldn’t feel elevated but does because of the contrast. The hoodie–probably the most casual thing any of us own—is offset by the work-ready black pants (not leggings or sweats), and the structured shoes tell us this is being worn somewhere that’s definitely not the gym or even the supermarket.
The result reads more like “it’s a quiet day of in-office meetings,” which is where a lot of personal style seems to be heading in 2026 as we look for ways to rethink casual staples. To that point: We’re making track shorts into an It item. Granny sandals are having their moment, just after grandpa shoes had theirs. Just a day before Wilde, on the opposite coast, glam-queen Rihanna stepped out in a basic trench coat, jeans, a baseball cap, and sneakers. People are dressing for real life, which is how a gray hoodie starts showing up outside the gym and, honestly, we’re all for it.
