Lily Collins Endorses Capris and Naked Flats in an Anti-‘Emily in Paris’ Summer Look

The longer Lily Collins plays Emily Cooper, the wider the gap between their style identities becomes.

Unlike the effervescent Emily in Paris protagonist, Collins tends to gravitate toward rock-inspired accents or classic staples in cozy textures. While Emily would never pair a massive Balenciaga City Bag with brown suede sneakers, Collins had no such qualms with the look while traveling across Europe last summer.

Nearly a year later she stepped even further outside Emily’s comfort zone while filming the Netflix series in Mykonos. Late last month, Collins was photographed in Greece wearing one of this summer’s hottest trends: capri pants. And while we could easily see Emily Cooper embracing the style in a tomato-red version or a pair of polka dot leggings à la Hailey Bieber, she wouldn’t be caught dead pairing black capris with an oversized leather jacket and slouchy crossbody. The same can’t be said for Collins, who wore the effortlessly cool combination during a lunch break with costars Ashley Park and Lucien Laviscount.

The most Emily Cooper–coded aspect of the look were the actor’s ballet flats, though we think the social media expert would opt for a more colorful, textured, or structured option. Instead, Collins embraced yet another current summer trend—the barefoot shoe—in a pair of Margaux’s soft, glove-like Phoebe Flats in bone white Nappa leather.
