One of this year’s most interesting and intriguing retro gaming consoles is out now, although it appears to be selling out fast. The Spectrum White Edition is a stylish new version of the retro console that was originally released back in 2024. In addition to the snazzy new colour scheme, the white Spectrum comes with a variety of extras, including a matching joystick, a brand USB and a copy of Crash Magazine. The Spectrum White Edition is already sold out at Argos, so you may need to hurry if you want to secure this highly collectible console.

The new colour scheme is a reference to the legendary one-of-a-kind white ZX Spectrum that was gifted to Sir Clive Sinclair to celebrate 1 million sales of the iconic home computer.

It costs a bit more than the standard black version, but the bundled extras and swish new look kind of makes it worth the extra cash.

The updated version of the classic computer supports 720p HD output via HDMI, and comes with four USB ports for controllers and joysticks.

Multiple save states will be available for each game, alongside a rewind feature, CRT filters and even basic programming functionality.

Most important of all, however, is the fact that The Spectrum recreates the iconic rubber keyboard, complete with fully working keys.

Of course, the headline feature is the inclusion of 48 built-in games, plus a selection of unlockables.

This includes stone-cold classics like Target Renegade and Head Over Heels, as well as Manic Miner, Skool Daze and Jack the Nipper.

If your favourite game isn’t available in the launch line-up, it’s worth noting that The Spectrum allows users to add their own games via USB.

This means you can play the likes of Jetpac, Knight Lore and Dizzy, even though they’re not pre-installed.
