While Sony fans are eager to find out the latest PlayStation 5 news, it’s likely not going to have solid facts released about it for a while.

And there certainly won’t be a new trailer for it debuting during Super Bowl 2018.

However, while there won’t be a big PlayStation 5 news drop – nor one for the Xbox Two for that matter – fans can expect a few trailers.

There are rumours that there will be at least one PS4 and PS4 Pro games exclusive shown, although, which one is hard to guess.

The new God of War seems like the most likely to get centerstage attention during the big sporting event.

The franchise has been featured during the Super Bowl before, making an appearance during the 2013 event.

There’s even rumours that a special PS4 Pro God of War edition is being released, so who knows if that might pop up soon too.

Launching on April 20, it’s Sony’s next major release, barring the likes of Shadow of the Colossus.

It would actually make a lot of sense to see the new remake show up in the Super Bowl 2018 trailer’s list, what with it launching on February 6.

Sony’s rivals may also get in on the act, with Nintendo choosing to make their Super Bowl ad debut in 2017 with the Switch.

For those still hungry to find out more about the PS5 release date, there’s a growing consensus we might be waiting longer than first anticipated.

It was recently revealed by Sony PlayStation that their PS4 console sold very well during the festive period.

It may not be as good as last year, but Sony have announced that they shipped 9 million PS4 consoles, for the period ended December 31.

This compares to 9.7 million during the same period last year, which does mean things have slowed a bit.

It was confirmed in October that Sony had sold 67.5 million consoles, bringing it to a grand total of 76.5 million as of December 31.

That includes both the base PS4 and the more powerful PS4 Pro model, which is the current rival to Microsoft’s Xbox One X.

Several analysts and gaming industry experts have raised the question over when we might realistically see something revealed for the PS5.

There have been reports that Sony may hold back on launching their new console until around 2020, or perhaps even 2021.

But as industry expert and publisher for Gameindustry.biz, Christopher Dring recently pointed out, there’s always a lot of rumours flying about

“Rumours of Fable 4 being made by a London studio, of a new Perfect Dark and Sony slowing up progress on PS5 have been rattling around for a few months,” he tweeted.

“Most folk are trying to work out if we’re all just hearing the same rumour from the same source. Or not…”

It highlights the fact that no one seems to know for certain what Sony have planned for the future, although there’s plenty of analysis being done.

Industry analyst Michael Pachter has said in the past that he believes that Sony is making too much money with the PS4 to consider releasing a new console just yet.

Pachter commented in the 1099 Podcast: “I think that’s exactly when you’ll see one (PS5) 2019 or 2020, and if I had to bet, it’s 2020.

“Sony’s making so much money with the PS4 that I think they’ll continue to milk it as long as they can milk it.

“And I think the natural extension of that is the PS4 Pro becomes the default PS4, and they just knock that price down to $250 when they can and they keep selling it – a ton of those.”

The Xbox One X games list got a major lift this week following the news of another big launch.

Blizzard have now confirmed that Overwatch is now part of the enhanced games list.

It brings the Xbox One X up to speed with the PS4 Pro, which has had a patch out for quite some time.

The new patch was rolled into a big update for the popular team shooter, which now support 4K resolution on Microsoft’s upgraded console.

This latest update does not include any extra HDR support for the Xbox One X, so fans will have to make do with the sharper picture.

Fans will soon be able to take Overwatch on Xbox One X through its paces properly, with a new event just round the corner.

The Overwatch Year of the Dog  will launch next week and will bring back all the popular Lunar New Year skins from last year.
