developer Blizzard has finally lifted the lid on the , confirming its release date in early February.

The second annual Lunar New Year event has been given a February 8 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

“Wishing you prosperity in the Year of the Dog! Lunar New Year returns February 8.”

Outside of a brief trailer released on Twitter, little else is known about the Chinese New Year event.

What we do known is that the Year of the Dog Overwatch event will be similar to 2017’s Year of the Rooster event, although Blizzard has made a number of tweaks based on fan feedback.

There will also be a host of new skins, sprays and emotes, as well as all of last year’s items.

And if it’s anything like previous Overwatch events, returning skins will be available at a cheaper price.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Overwatch fans, starting with the release of new maps and items as part of the Cosmetic update.

A recent Overwatch update added more than 100 new items, which will be permanently available in loot boxes.

The new items includes Epic and Legendary skins, player icons, emotes and sprays.

If you don’t find any in loot boxes, you can also purchase the items directly by visiting the Hero Gallery.

A follow-up update also added Xbox One X support, complete with 4K options.

Junkrat’s Concussion Mine has also been tweaked to do less damage to players outside of the initial blast radius.

“Junkrat has been enjoying the flexibility his double-charge Concussion Mine provides, but it has now become a bit too easy to throw out huge bursts of damage in a large area,” a message from Blizzard reads.

“With this change he can still dish out similar damage but he must now be more accurate with his tosses.”

Mercy’s Valkyrie ability has also been dialled back, as Blizzard continues to balance the fan favourite character.
