fans are gearing up for patch V.2.4.0, which brings with it the new Minigun weapon for Battle Royale and the end of the Sniper Shootout mode.

Fortnite patch V.2.4.0 was originally meant to be released on Thursday, however Epic Games later revealed the patch launch had been delayed.

One of the reasons for this delayed release was the update was being tinkered with to fix the Fortnite building issues that have lingered since last week’s extended server times.

The original patch notes for the big Fortnite update revealed it initially was not meant to include this in-demand fix.

The Fortnite update has been delayed as Battle Royale fans are also awaiting the end of the limited time Sniper Shootout mode today.

No end time has been given for when Sniper Shootout will be swapped out, so there is a chance Fortnite patch V.2.4.0 could launch as the limited time mode ends.

Epic Games haven’t revealed whether there will be server downtime for Fortnite and Battle Royale to coincide with Sniper Shootout ending or patch V.2.4.0 launching.

As fans eagerly awaited the release of Fortnite patch V.2.4.0 yesterday, the game’s official Twitter account gave an explanation for the delay.

They tweeted a link to a Reddit post alongside the message: “We know you’re eager for an update on V.2.4.0 and why it’s delayed. Check out this post for more info on that”.

And in the post they explained: “We hear your concerns regarding bugs that you are experiencing since V.2.3.0, especially those regarding building.

“It’s taking us longer than expected to fix these issues and we’re working through some major ones.

“If we’re unable to fix them today the v2.4.0 release will be delayed. Once we have a better idea of when the patch will arrive we’ll update everyone.

“In order to help make building feel better we’ll be reverting to the building bar system that was present in V.2.2.0. We intend on finding a more permanent fix to make building and item selection feel more crisp in the future. We’ve also added some tools to help us better diagnose in-game issues when new bugs do arise.”

The Fortnite team added: “Be sure to check the patch notes again because we’ve added more items to the “Known Bugs” section. In addition to that, we’ve also created a “Fixed Bugs” section to inform every one of the immediate fixes we’ve done that delayed this patch.

“Note: We have bugs that will come in with the v.2.4.0 release, see the Known Bugs section at the top of our notes for a full list.

“Please continue to let us know about anything new you find once V.2.4.0 does release.

“Thank you for your continued patience.”

Last week Fortnite was hit by lengthy server downtime, with the popular PS4, Xbox One and PC game offline in the UK for 14 hours on Thursday.

To make up for it, Epic Games have revealed that Fortnite fans will be getting some freebies.

For Battle Royale players 20 Battle Stars will be added toward their Battle Pass progression, while Save the World player will also get 1600 Seasonal Gold you can use in the Event Store.

Epic Games said these Fortnite treats will become available to fans sometime after patch V.2.4.0 is launched.
