The Government has posted a video of TOWIE reality TV star Gemma Collins appearing at the Department for Education, leaving the internet divided with mixed reactions
Gemma Collins has left the internet divided after she appeared in the Department for Education’s (DfE) latest video.
The former TOWIE star, 45, left fans in stitches as she was drafted in to “help sort things out”. In the DfE video, Gemma makes a bizarre cameo, right off the back of her stint in the latest controversial I’m A Celebrity series.
While it remains unclear what those ‘things’ are, or precisely what she’ll be undertaking, the 45-year-old’s new position was revealed through a video on the DfE’s official X account. The account also tagged Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson in the video.
In the video, Gemma is shown turning around and unveiling herself to the camera outside the Palace of Westminster, according to MyLondon. The footage then switches to her inside the department, asking: “Right. What are we doing to help the children?”
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson subsequently opens her office door and declares “come in, let’s have a chat”. It certainly sparked a divided response from those who witnessed the tweet.
One individual commented: “The good and decent officials who were made to tweet this nonsense deserve better than gimmicky c*** from a terrible leadership. I’m sorry to see the department brought so low.”
Meanwhile a second wrote: “I say this sincerely: God help us.” And a third joked: “What’s next? Joey Essex visits the Ministry of Defence?”
However, it wasn’t all doom-and-gloom from everyone. One person rejoiced: “About time we see Gemma back on our screens lol. Big up the Essex Queen.”
Former health secretary Wes Streeting, who recently left the government due to the ongoing fallout among MPs, retweeted the video. He added: “When the GC met BP”, adding a fire emoji.
Gemma herself has been keen to get back into education after she admitted she had left school with basic qualifications. She also spoke together with the education secretary on how kids in similar positions don’t end up being left behind.
More and more content between the former I’m A Celebrity star and the government is set to be released in the coming days. Collins herself will post extra videos to her own accounts behind the scenes of the DfE’s content.
