Donald Trump’s government has once again raised eyebrows with their latest bizarre social media output, which features the US president as a Star Wars character
The White House has posted a meme of Donald Trump depicted as the hero of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, coinciding with ‘Star Wars’ day – May 4.
Because that’s what the global superpower governments do now – create facile AI-slop images of their leaders and plaster them all over social media. Everything’s fine – this is totally normal behaviour for your kid to exhibit, says the doctor to the parent whose child is tearing wings off a fly in the hospital waiting room.
In the White Houses’ latest instalment of “haha, look look at this silly picture of Trump – not at anything else America is doing”, Trump’s Mandalorian is accompanied by alien child and Jedi trainee Grogu, aka “Baby Yoda.”
Orange Manbaby Trump is also carrying an American flag, obviously. “In a galaxy that demands strength – America stands ready. This is the way. May the 4th be with you,” the White House’s post on social media said.
And for many Trump-voting Americans, this is probably a reassuring thing to read on their government’s social media page. You’re absolutely right – he IS the universe’s guardian!
This time last year, the White House shared another AI-generated image of Trump as a muscular Jedi. The caption read: “Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy.
“You’re not the Rebellion — you’re the Empire. May the 4th be with you.”
Whoever did that post was perhaps subtly undermining Trump by giving him a red lightsaber, which is traditionally used by Star Wars villains like Darth Vader, or Darth Maul.
Today’s post is just the latest in a long-running theme of weird posts from Trump and his government.
Last week the President was labelled “not well” following a series of late-night social media posts, including a sneak preview of the planned makeover of the Washington DC reflecting pool.
Beginning at 11.03pm local time, the US president shared an AI-generated image of himself, JD Vance, and Marc Rubio paddling shirtless in the iconic Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which is set to be coloured “American flag blue” using an “industrial-grade pool” surface rather than restoring the granite floor.
Publishing a compilation of Trump’s messages, political commentator Harry Sisson remarked: “All of this took place in under an hour. This man is not well.”
