The US blitz of major Iranian nuclear sites has caused a stir in Russia, a key Tehran ally, where media commentators repeatedly compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler

Donald Trump has been compared to Adolf Hitler by Mad Vlad’s mouthpieces after launching bunker busting bombs on Russia’s ally Iran.

Top Kremlin propagandists likened Saturday’s missile barrage of Iran’s nuclear sites to Operation Barbarossa, Nazi Germany’s surprise invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941.

Speaking on Russia’s morning show At Dawn, hosts Kristina Busarova and Roman Guz highlighted the attack on Iran was on the anniversary of Barbarossa, although the date has no historical resonance in the United States.

They also compared Trump’s post-strike statement to Hitler’s speech justifying the invasion of the Soviet Union, in which he said: “At this moment, an attack unprecedented in the history of the world in its extent and size has begun.”

Roman Guz drew parallels between the two, saying: “Both of them claimed to be doing this for the sake of the world.”

The comparisons were made on the show, which is aired on Solovyov Live, a state-controlled television channel launched by Putin’s Propaganda tsar Vladimir Solovyov, who has been sanctioned by Britain and the EU for promoting disinformation and blocked from YouTube.

Russia watchers believe the fact it was such a hot topic among panellists suggests it was dished out as one of the main talking points by government overseers who control what is said in the media.

However, not everyone appeared to have got the memo as Andrey Sidorov, Deputy Dean of world politics at Moscow State University, disagreed that Trump intentionally chose the date.

Appearing on Sunday Evening With Vladimir Solovyov, he instead accused the US president of ignorance, telling the leading propagandist: “As far as what happened today, I don’t think Trump ever read a single book about World War II.”

And while Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi was set to travel to Russia to meet Mad Vlad on Monday, his mouthpieces on tv said Russia is too busy to help Iran and China should do it.

Appearing on Russia’s 60 Minutes, military expert Igor Korotchenko stressed that China should do the heavy lifting to help Iran, because Russia is already busy in Ukraine, “fighting the collective West.”

US officials hailed the mission to destroy Iran’s three main nuclear development sites a masterclass in deception after “bunker-buster” bombs were said to have obliterated them.

Iran struck back on Monday with ballistic missile strikes aimed at a US air base in Qatar.
