It’s safe to say that when I first interviewed Bonnie Blue last year, very few people had heard of her.

But fast-forward 14 months later, and she is a global sensation being name-checked by the likes of Jack Whitehall at the BRIT Awards of all places. Love her or hate her, what she has achieved in terms of getting herself on the world stage has been nothing short of sensational. And it’s probably all down to her insane work ethic, and no-holds barred chat.

She thrives off of her racy antics and loves to rub some people up the wrong way.

Safe in the knowledge that, for all the attention from the haters, she’s getting a lot of extra admirers in the process. I have been in quite a unique position to have seen, and played a small part in, her rise to the A-list of adult performers.

When I was given the opportunity to interview Bonnie in March 2024, she had a modest following across her socials. Hot on the heels of a controversial Schoolies’ stunt down under, she was in Cancun to run some similar antics with US students partying in Mexico for Spring Break.

She sat in the reception of the hotel she was staying in, with a very sketchy WiFi signal, so it wasn’t the easiest of conversations. But it was one that I noted, despite dropping out now and again, was very fruitful.

I’ve often been a little concerned about asking really personal questions of adult stars. I have no idea why, considering what they do for a living – so me asking them to talk about it surely shouldn’t be an issue.

But Bonnie is very self-aware and quite happily laid it all out. She talked me like a mate who had a really interesting job I couldn’t help ask about. And, like a good mate, she just told me everything.

“Have you got any pictures?” I asked. She said she could send some over. But given the dodgy signal, and the fact that my surname is a nightmare for some, I told her I’d drop her an email to respond with the pics to.

So I got off the call, sent the email which – because I work remotely – had my personal mobile number on.

A couple of weeks I got a random Whatsapp message from Bonnie, and that was it, I was unofficially the Bonnie hotline. It was kind of like the Batphone, but with a higher bodycount.

Whenever she was up to something, coming over to the UK for some sign-posting antics, cheeky encounters at football games, or stunts with freshers, I was getting a message and we’d have a back and forth about it.

I’d get messages and pictures at all hours (thanks to the time difference between UK and Australia) of her and her latest mission.

She was so down to earth and candid, she was incredibly easy to write about. I once had a 20 minute chat with her, and I think I managed eight articles off the back of it. I called her the headline queen, because every new conversation would be another wild story.

She was a kind-hearted individual too, I remember her checking on me after a hospital appointment once, asking if I had a good holiday another time, and even delivered on a quirky request.

I had a friend talk to me at length about Bonnie, at a party. I thought it was because she knew I’d written lots of articles about her – turns out she didn’t have a clue I’d written a word, and was just fascinated by what Bonnie did.

So I asked Bonnie if she could do a quick video where she could thank her personally for her interest in her hijinks, which she duly did, and blew my friend away – I wonder how much it would cost to get a personal message now.

But I felt quite honoured and privileged to have played a part in her meteoric rise, although it’s safe to say her off the charts determination did a lot of the leg work.

Bonnie at Spring Break

Bonnie once told me that she estimated around 90% of the stories on her around the globe had come from interviews that I’d done with her, and seemed annoyed that I hadn’t been credited.

Even her This Morning appearance came after one of the researchers on the ITV show had seen one of my articles. And, to end this, one little final fun fact, and my new claim to fame.

Since becoming a journalist many years ago, I have been responsible for planting the seeds of two world records. The first was an ironing one, carried out in my home town, the second was Bonnie’s claim to bonking 1057 men in 12 hours.

It was my first conversation with her and, trying to be a diligent, I looked for ideas questions. It was her first Spring Break encounter in Cancun and when given the eye-watering number of guys she’d bedded I asked her where next, then I mentioned the world record, which at that time was held by Linda Sparxxx (919 in case you were wondering).

Bonnie immediately took what I said in, and the cogs started whirring. Remember when I said I had a random message from Bonnie when we first started talking Whatsapping? That was what it was about.

The next time we spoke she told me how she had been thinking on it, and working out the logistics. During our subsequent chats she would occasionally give me an off the record update of things, like possible backers and a venue.

Then everything went quiet on that front as she focussed on other things, and loving being scandalous. Until on Monday January 13, when I had a message ping my Whatsapp at 11.35pm from Bonnie saying: “Just wanted to thank you for mentioning the world record to me last year, this is where it started!”

At the time I just sleepily thought it was because she’d come a long way since our first chat. Then the next morning I woke up to see her trending, complete with images of her holding up an A4 piece of paper with 1,057 written on it – OMG!

So, while I was sat there watching Police Academy or something, I was inadvertently responsible for giving more than a 1,000 blokes a day they’ll never forget. My evening couldn’t have gone any more differently. Thank you Bonnie, don’t stop being you!
