In a complete “head-scratcher”, Donald Trump has somehow been given odds of just 4/1 by bookies to win the Nobel Peace Prize for his actions in Gaza and Ukraine
Donald Trump has been given 4/1 odds that he’ll finally win a Nobel Peace Prize following his efforts to end global conflicts.
Despite cutting military aid to Ukraine, the US President, who’s long been obsessed with receiving the coveted award, is said to have “every chance” of securing it this year. Although the Orange Manbaby has been nominated for the revered award multiple times, he has never secured it.
He has claimed he deserves it and resents the fact that ex-president Barack Obama won it. But following his attempts, however controversial, to end the Ukraine war and his plans to secure peace in Gaza, Ladbrokes made it 4/1 that he’ll land the prize this year.
Spokesman Alex Apati said: “It might be a head-scratcher for the majority, but the odds suggest Trump has every chance of winning this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.”
The boost for Trump’s chances come after a Republican congressman this week said he was nominating him for the prize.
Darrell Issa added: “No one deserves it more.”
Mr Issa’s spokesperson, Jonathan Wilcox, suggested it was because of Trump’s efforts to bring peace to the Middle East. The congressman had heard from “several heads of state” in the region that “the spirit of peace and moving away from conflict is real”, he added.
Mr Wilcox said: “From the time of his election and after being sworn in, President Trump has inspired and promoted the cause of peace – and in a way we have not heard in many years.
“His advocacy is an aspiration of a world without war, and we are seeing this come into focus in several regions of the world today – not just one.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has suggested a Democrat would receive the accolade if they carried out the same actions in Ukraine.
He said: “If this was a Democrat that was doing this, everyone would be saying, ‘Well, he’s on his way to the Nobel Peace Prize’.”
And Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said: “If it were fairly awarded, I think in a year, he should get it from what I’ve seen.”
