Randy Andrew ‘saw 40 escorts’ and ‘high society’ women during Thailand trip

A former UK government official previously shared his experiences with Prince Andrew during his time as a trade envoy in Thailand, where he made a number of private and taxpayer-funded visits

As Andrew Windsor is banished from the fold of the Royal Family, one of the most salacious allegations against him involves his trip to Thailand while he was a UK trade ambassador.

The former Prince, who was stripped of his titles and kicked out of Royal Lodge by his brother King Charles last night, made several private and taxpayer-funded visits to the country.

Ian Proud, former head of the political section at the UK Embassy, claimed previously: “He also went on private trips to see his bits of fluff on the side, where we played a much lighter role in stewarding him through.”

He also alleged: “There would be all these high society Thai women wanting to hang out with a prince. They were flocking to see him, there was an incredible fascination with him.”

In his biography of Prince Andrew, author Andrew Lownie alleged that Andrew had 40 escorts “brought to him” during one trip to Thailand.

Commenting on this, Mr Proud claimed to the the Metro: “The only question about the 40 escorts story is whether they were all escorts or were they high-class Thai girls wanting to have a bit of a cuddle with a prince, that’s my personal view.”

The retired official, now 57, would scout venues for the prince’s business programme and also spent time with him at events and at Bangkok’s airport during his tenure at the Embassy between 2003 and 2007.

Data acquired by the Metro reveals “eye-watering” hotel expenses incurred by the Prince, despite the availability of the ambassador’s residence for accommodation. These include a whopping £46,100 spent on a 13-day tour of Southeast Asia in October 2010, with the hotel bill alone amounting to £37,000, and an additional £3,800 spent on internal travel and £5,400 on “associated items’-defined as “, defined as “communications and allowances”.

Prince Andrew announced on Saturday that he would be relinquishing his Royal titles, despite repeatedly denying allegations levelled against him by the late Virginia Giuffre.

Andrew gave up the titles following a 10-minute phone call with his “weary” elder brother, King Charles, despite not having been a working Royal for six years.

The King’s wayward younger brother withdrew from public duty in 2019, after participating in a Newsnight interview discussing allegations of sexual assault made against him by Virginia Giuffre, which he vehemently denies, and his long-standing friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
