Prince Harry’s team have issued a statement on the rumours that he is keen to send his son Archie to Eton College in the UK, with sources claiming that Meghan would likely be less keen on the idea
Prince Harry’s team have released a statement after speculation emerged that the Sussexes were considering a prestigious UK school for Prince Archie.
Both Prince William and Harry attended the elite Eton College for their secondary education, one of Britain’s most costly boarding schools. Located a stone’s throw from Windsor Castle, they remained close to their grandparents, the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, during their time there.
Claims this week suggested that Harry had been contemplating sending his son Archie, six, to the same institution when the time arrives. The Duke’s representatives have now provided a statement to the Mirror addressing the speculation.
The reports featured anonymous sources alleging that Harry gained significantly from his Eton experience, particularly forming lifelong friendships, and that he was eager for his son to benefit from similar advantages.
Nevertheless, Harry’s team has quickly responded with a statement regarding whether Eton College might feature in Prince Archie’s future, reports the Mirror.
“I can confirm that Prince Harry has not registered Archie for Eton, and the Duke has no plans to send his son to Eton,” a spokesperson told the Mirror.
Unnamed friends speaking to the Mail claimed that during Harry’s recent UK visit, he told them, “Harry wants to educate the children here in the UK.
“Harry feels his children are missing out on the extensive family network that their niece and nephews are enjoying,” they continued. “Harry wants his children to have the very best education. He has retained his closest friendship group of confidants from his days at school at Ludgrove and Eton. He wants that for his own children.”
The source went on to claim that King Charles was aware of the plan and was “delighted” by it, though Meghan would probably be less enthusiastic about dispatching her children to school overseas.
Sources confirmed the speculation to the Daily Beast, revealing: “Harry has put Archie down. It’s fair to say he had mixed feelings about the school when he left, but looking back on it, he can appreciate the good,” one revealed.
Another “old schoolmate” told the publication, “For William and Harry, Eton is really the only sensible choice when it comes to British schools because of security.
“There are so many high-profile and politically exposed kids there that the whole school has ridiculous security provisions already. It’s seven day boarding, lots of kids fly back and forth at the beginning and end of term, so why shouldn’t Archie?”.
“The school certainly wouldn’t be prejudiced against him. Statistically, you have to imagine Eton would be a hell of a lot safer than an American school thanks to their gun laws.” These claims have since been denied by Harry’s team.
