Shaylee Snyder, 15, had been missing for two weeks when her body was tragically found close to a burned out Chevrolet Sedan next to railroad tracks
The family of a teenage girl have been left desperate for answers after she was found dead next to railroad tracks beside a burning car.
Shaylee Snyder was just 15 and had been missing for more than two weeks when her body was discovered near train tracks in the south west side of Indianapolis, the capital of the US state of Indiana.
Her family are calling her death suspicious and her grandfather told news outlet FOX8 that the black 2016 Chevrolet sedan found burning next to her had “something to do with her death”.
However, the cause of death has not yet been determined and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is currently treating the incident as a death investigation rather than a homicide.
Shaylee was reported as a runaway on February 10 and for 15 days relatives had been distributing flyers across the area to locate the missing teen.
Tragically her body was found just after 2:10pm along the railroad tracks on Saturday afternoon (February 22).
Shaylee’s parents, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear for their safety, believe the teenager may have fallen victim to an online predator.
Speaking to FOX8, her aunt said: “She was lured into something that she probably shouldn’t have been. It’s so gut wrenching.”
The family also blame the police who, they believe, failed to take Shaylee’s disappearance seriously when she was first reported missing.
Her grandfather said: “We feel like if we could’ve gotten some help and been on this a little more she might’ve been found before it got this deep.”
“Shaylee was so loved and was so loving and we just love her and we miss her,” her aunt added.
