Scottish mum Porcelain Victoria, 26, has worked as a dominatrix since 18 and says her job is just like plumbing – but fears new Nordic model laws could destroy her livelihood
A mother working as a dominatrix insists her profession is a “customer service job” similar to plumbing – but worries new legislation could plunge the industry into poverty. Porcelain Victoria began working as an adult worker at 18 whilst working at McDonald’s to cover her expenses.
Now 26 and a parent, she operates full-time as an adult worker, catering to both men and women ranging from 18 to 77 years old. Porcelain maintains she generates an income that provides her with financial independence – and enables her to support her child.
Her services encompass dominatrix work (acting as a powerful, commanding figure in roleplay), escorting, BDSM (bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, and masochism), and online adult content.
Porcelain Victoria draws parallels between adult work and customer service, contending it should be accepted as normal like occupations such as plumbing or retail. However, she’s worried that potential legislative changes in Scotland could force her and fellow adult workers into destitution.
She said: “I love my job. I would never do any [other job].
“Even though the government doesn’t see it as a one. This is a customer service job.
“My job is to put a smile on your face before you walk out the door. When it comes to a plumber when it comes to a driver, even a McDonald’s server, we are here to give you a type of service.
“It’s a customer service based job where we want those 5 stars. We want to do good.
“It’s just like any other job, which is why we advocate safety because we don’t get that with this job. But we don’t get maternity pay.
“We don’t get pensions. We don’t get sick pay, holiday pay.”
Porcelain Victoria turned to adult work as her escape route from an abusive home situation whilst also boosting her earnings. Beyond covering her own bills and rent, she was financially supporting both her father and her then-partner.
The income from adult work enabled her to leave Runcorn, Cheshire behind and relocate to Reading, where she discovered she was expecting at 19. She explained: “I got unexpectedly pregnant.
“I carried on with my work at that time. When I was 19, I was escorting, and I was also dominatrixing.
“Then with my pregnancy, I went into webcam because it was much safer rather than escorting. From there I was able to move up to Scotland.”
Now residing in Fife, Porcelain maintains an extensive client roster whom she receives at her residence alongside her escorting work. She additionally performs on webcam through an adult platform called Dark Fans – a hub catering to fetish and kink enthusiasts.
According to Porcelain Victoria, her profession provides the monetary independence that conventional employment simply cannot match. Her client base includes long-standing customers who’ve been with her from the beginning, alongside regulars she encounters monthly – encompassing married individuals, women, and non-binary or transgender people.
The majority of her clientele consists of men – frequently those seeking to experiment with feminine attire and cosmetics for the first time. She revealed: “I love the fact that I can give fantasies that clients have been wanting to do for many years, especially in the Dominatrix part.
“Some men haven’t been able to indulge in that fantasy because of social stigma. A common one which I get is men in their 50s, when they come to see me, sometimes they want to dress up.
“And they want to dress like a woman. I’ve had clients put on makeup and just started crying because they’ve never seen themselves really vulnerable.
“It’s very beautiful to see the walls come down and that toxic masculinity for so many years to just shut down where they don’t need to be the boss.” Porcelain revealed her eldest client is 77 years old and welcomes anyone from 18 upwards.
She explained: “It warms my heart that people do enjoy coming to see myself because of my own skills and me being trusted. I remember a woman coming to see me based on the fact that I am a professional and she trusts me more than a random guy off Tinder.
“It doesn’t matter in terms of if they’re married or not because that is none of my business. It is up to the men what they do.
“And it is up to women what they do, whether they are with somebody or not. One thing which I try and teach my clients is communication is key.
“If you can come out to your client, if you can come out to your partner, do it.” Independent MSP Ash Regan has tabled legislation that would criminalise paying for [adult] services.
The approach is commonly known as the Nordic model and was initially introduced in Sweden. Regan, who previously stood in an SNP leadership race, contends that tackling men’s demand for prostitution will help safeguard women.
Porcelain Victoria challenges: “Why am I paying taxes if this is violence against women and girls? The government is constantly, trying to bring in this Nordic model, which has no pros for [adult] workers.
“We can’t even work together for safety. Now, that’s honestly ridiculous.
“We just need labour rights. I think a lot of the stigma is because we do not educate people enough.
“We aren’t teaching kids properly about [Relationship and Sexuality Education]. We aren’t teaching kids properly about consent.
“Why are people doing [adult] work in the first place? Because we can’t afford to live in the in the economy like this.
“It is ridiculous.” She aspires to continue her profession until she is “old” and transition into counselling, aiding couples and individuals navigate their sexuality in relation to kinks and fetishes.
She is also an active member of a grassroots movement named Scotland for Decrim – a fresh campaign advocating for the complete decriminalisation of adult work in Scotland.
