Police were called to a large disorder in the early hours of Sunday morning after a Tesla was driven into a crowd of pedestrians. The driver was seen arguing with four people before the incident
A glam woman was seen flashing a huge grin in her mugshot after being arrested for plowing her car into a crowd, leaving four people injured. Kaydence Carpenter, 20, was seen beaming in her custody photo hours after allegedly driving through a group of pedestrians.
Video of the incident showed Carpenter arguing with four people on the pavement before she got into her black Tesla Model 3 and reversed it. The vehicle then suddenly accelerates forward, as dozens of bystanders desperately try to flee.
The car appears to be driven over a kerb and onto the main road before it is eventually stopped. A barefoot women then leaves the motor and is placed in cuffs by cops.
The incident happened at around 2.15am on Sunday morning in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. Carpenter was arrested and booked into Fayette County Detention Center, where she flashed her pearly whites for her mugshot.
Cops said they suspected she had been boozing before getting behind the wheel and court documents say Carpenter’s actions “created substantial danger of death and/or serious physical injury to other”, local media reported.
Court papers state she failed sobriety tests after being arrested and police officers found fake ID belonging to her. In the US, it is illegal to buy alcohol under the age of 21.
Carpenter was charged with four counts of second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI, reckless driving and licensee allowing a person under the age of 21 on premises where alcohol is sold, according to court records.
She was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charges, local media reports. She will appear before court again in April.
Police said officers were called to a large disorder in the area of Short Street and North Broadway in the city. They said another disorder broke out around a vehicle attempting to leave a parking lot in the area.
Ronnesha Woolfolk of Lexington said she has an injured leg and a shifted disc in her back. She said she tried to run away from the car as it came toward her, but got caught in front before escaping to the side, it was reported.
She told WKYT: “I didn’t try to run away from the car or go the direction that I did, I possibly could have been underneath the car or going down the street as she was going down the street still driving.
“The only thing on my mind is, am I going to make it back to my daughter?” Police said none of the people hit had life-threatening injuries.
