One man decided to take on the ultimate morning challenge – a loaded 8,000 calorie plate piled high with ten items of each to make a huge English Breakfast that no one has ever completed

An insatiable foodie decided to take on a gut-busting 8,000-calorie breakfast challenge – but Kyle Gibson was left high and dry after he threw in the towel after less than 20 minutes, despite it being the best brekkie he’d ever tasted.

The monster-sized meal features an astonishing 10 of everything — 10 sausages, 10 rashers of bacon, 10 eggs, 10 slices of toast, 10 pieces of black pudding, 10 hash browns, plus mushrooms, two tins of tomatoes and two tins of baked beans. The belly-blasting challenge comes with high stakes. Anyone who manages to finish the entire platter within 45 minutes eats for free and takes home £50 in cash – otherwise, it’ll set you back £35 to take part.

The 27-year-old tackled the mammoth meal at Houghton Health Box, Houghton le Spring, near Sunderland. No one has ever managed to complete the breakfast, which staff need 40 minutes to cook.

“I felt confident before starting the challenge but half way through I realised how difficult it would be,” Kyle, of the village of Houghton le Spring, told What’s the Jam.

“There was so much bread and so much food and I was eating it on my own. I gave up after about 18 minutes but it was one of the best breakfasts I had.

“Afterwards, I didn’t feel so good. The bloating was bad and I won’t want another breakfast for a very long time.

“I used to be one of the most competitive eaters in the country but now I’m not too competitive anymore. I just like to give it a go.”

For more manageable breakfasts, foodies are at war online over whether the finest can be found at Wetherspoon or Toby Carvery.

A fan has raved over the Spoons “bargain” breakfast deal for less than £5. The food lover enjoyed a cooked breakfast, along with tea and coffee with free refills, for under a fiver, and praised the menu in a TikTok post.

@roamingwithamba said: “Oh my god, guys, you’re not ready for this. I just found out you can get a full English breakfast and unlimited drinks for under a fiver. Like seriously?”

“Wetherspoons does breakfast for £2.99. What? How is this even real? And it’s not just some sad little plate, either; it literally comes with so much. Plus, they even got veggie options too. And if you add the unlimited hot drinks, it is £1.81. So if we do the maths, that’s only £4.80. It’s an absolute madness.”

@roamingwithamba opted for a small breakfast, reports the Daily Record.

The viral video delighted viewers, gaining over 35k views and hundreds of likes. One foodie wrote: “Going today and twice a week love food.” A second fan said: “Breakfast at Wetherspoons is value for money.”

But a viewer claimed: “Toby Carvery better. £10 with coffee and all you can eat.”
