A TERRIFYING-looking fish with what appear to be human teeth has been discovered by an 11-year-old girl.

Kennedy Smith plucked the horrifying piranha-like fish while on a trip with relatives.

The fish resembles the flesh-eating piranha but has small, even teeth which look worryingly human.

It was caught in Fort Cobb Lake, in the US state of Oklahoma.

Kennedy said she was excited to catch the fish, but thought the teeth in its mouth were “creepy”.

The bizarre creature was a pacu, a close relative of the piranha native to South America.

Sharing a picture of the fish on Facebook, Oklahoma Game Wardens said: “The introduction of the pacu into Oklahoma waters is most likely from individuals buying them as pets and releasing them when they outgrow the tank they were raised in.

“Pacu can reach sizes up to 3.5 feet and 88 pounds.”

Game Warden Tyler Howser said the fish was destroyed, as pacu are seen as an invasive species.

Unlike piranhas, pacu eat mostly plants, but they can eat meat as well.
