Deadliest Catch star Todd Meadows, 25, tragically died after falling overboard during filming for the Discovery Channel series, weeks after reportedly suffering a concussion

A Deadliest Catch star who died after plunging overboard while filming had reportedly been on medical leave weeks beforehand following a concussion. Todd Meadows passed away aged 25 following a devastating incident at sea during production of the Discovery programme.

His death is still being investigated and his devastated mum has pleaded for the recorded material never to be broadcast. His mother Angela also revealed that her son had sustained a head injury roughly a month prior to the fatal accident.

The impact is understood to have occurred whilst he was aboard the Aleutian Lady, the vessel from which he fell. Following injury procedures, the TV personality is said to have seen a medic who apparently confirmed he had sustained a concussion.

Meadows’ mum stated her son had been flown back to Washington to recuperate for about a week. Speaking to TMZ, Angela said: “The last photo I got of him was when he was building a fire. He was listening to music in the moment and was so happy.”

“That’s how I want to remember him,” reports the Mirror.

The publication reports that her son was thrilled to be heading back to sea following his medical clearance.

His passing was described as “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady”.

Todd is understood to have died the Bering Sea while filming for the long-running Discovery Channel programme. A Coast Guard statement revealed: “Coast Guard watchstanders at the Arctic District command center in Juneau received notification from the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady, reporting that a crew member by the name of Todd Meadows fell overboard approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor.”

“He was recovered unresponsive by the crew approximately ten minutes later. First aid and attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful, and the crew transported the deceased to Dutch Harbor.”
