Multiple police cars and two ambulances rushed to a village street in Greatham on Christmas Day evening after reports of an altercation involving a group of people
Christmas Day concluded in chaotic scenes on a village street as a person was spotted tussling with police officers on a residential driveway.
Stunned residents watched in disbelief as the individual appeared to struggle with law enforcement on Hill View in Greatham, close to Hartlepool.
The disturbance unfolded around 7.50pm on Christmas Day, with multiple police vehicles arriving with their blue lights blazing across the street.
Two ambulances were also positioned along the road during the incident on December 25 as local residents watched on in shock.
Cleveland Police confirmed they responded to reports of a disturbance involving several individuals, reports Teesside Live.
A force spokesperson explained: “Officers attended Hill View, Greatham, Hartlepool, shortly after 7.30pm after reports of an altercation involving a group of people, however no serious injuries were sustained, and no arrests were made.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 7.44pm on Thursday 25 December to reports of a person unwell at a private address on Hill View in Greatham, Hartlepool.
~”We dispatched an ambulance crew and a rapid response paramedic to the scene, and treated one patient on-scene before we were no longer required and were stood down.”
One local resident revealed that numerous neighbours had emerged in their festive pyjamas, bewildered by the commotion.
She commented: “It was quite a shock to see all the blue lights and to hear the sirens on Christmas day.
“There must have been about five or six police cars and vans, and two ambulance vehicles. Someone looked like they was trying to wrestle free from police on the driveway of a house.
“There were three police officers around them initially, but then more and more police arrived at the scene so I didn’t see what happened after that. It wasn’t nice to see on Christmas Day.”
