Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has reportedly been asked to write the next James Bond movie, and it means he might be working with Tom Hardy or Cillian Murphy again
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is said to be writing the next James Bond movie. It’s reported he recently met director Denis Villeneuve and got the job after a few others were considered.
It comes as speculation on who will replace Daniel Craig as the 007-agent continues. Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, who both appeared in Peaky Blinders, are in the running, although Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the current favourite.
Now, it’s reported that Amazon MGM Studios have hired Steven to pen the next Bond movie, which will follow 2021’s No Time To Die. The studio took over creative control of the James Bond franchise last year.
According to Deadline, the focus in recent weeks has been on the script and who would write it. Steven is said to have met with Denis last week, with the director happy with the choice.
But it’s expected that the decision on who will play Bond won’t be made any time soon.
That’s because the script has not yet been written, and Denis is busy on Dune: Part Three.
According to the latest odds, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the favourite to play the spy, followed by Dua Lipa’s fiancé Callum Turner and White Lotus hunk Theo James.
However the odds are shortening on both Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, who both currently sit outside the Top 20.
Irish actor Cillian played lead character Tommy Shelby in all six seasons, while Tom played Alfie Solomons from the second season until the sixth.
It would mean a return to working with Steven Knight if either of them landed the role.
Other names in the running include Henry Cavill, Jack Lowden, Aaron Pierre, harris Dickinson, Tom Holland, James Norton, Rege-Jean Page, Jacob Elordi, Idris Elba and Josh O’Connor, to name a few.
No Time To Die was Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond.
He said in 2019 that he was “done” with Bond, however had previously suggested he wouldn’t return in a 2015 interview before coming back for No Time To Die.
