It won’t make any difference whether Johnson stays or goes. This confidence vote forced because many Tory MP’s now think he’s an electoral liability and are anxious about retaining their seats is just a facade because they know ultimately, with the Partygate furore dying down it will mean they can’t just rely on Johnson’s behaviour and mendacity as an excuse and they themselves will be put on the frontline themselves having to defend to their constituents 11 years of failed Tory neoliberal policies which are now visibly manifested by the crises’ of the cost of living, stagflation, housing, social care, NHS, and of course the madness of Brexit. Many Tory MP’s who back Johnson will predictably use the Pandemic and the Ukraine/Russia military conflict as an excuse. However Tory failed neoliberal and austerity policies, (shamefully backed by Labour) were well entrenched before these events occurred.
