I don't care how smart you think you are or how good your job may be right now. Anyone can lose a job at anytime for any reason. So never assume your job is secure, it's not. If you do lose your job, it can be very very difficult to find another job that pays a living wage. Sometimes people go weeks or even months before they can find a job so always be humble and thankful because you could very well be hungry and homeless at the drop of a hat.

I have to ask. When I see people in other contries starving, well you've seen how bad they look, they are starving. Why do we so often see people in this country needing food stamps and food banks to feed their family but normally at least 1 parent sometime both are very much overweight? How is it you don't have enough money for food to last till your next food stamps but there is enough food to maintain your eating more calories to maintain your weight. While I typed that I realized what part of the answer is, a salad cost $12 while a happy meal costs $3. I pray that things will change. That the rich and powerful decide to actually make America great. Put the people first and share the wealth. I grew up like these kids but our mother struggled and she was able to get us both through college and we say thank you every day for giving us the way out of that hell. We both work hard, say thanks and give back and pray we never end up back there. Try to make the best choice for your future.

We all know that everyone's story is different and not everyone ends up needing help because of something they did. It could be loss of your job, illness or injury. It could also be a spouse or partner walking out. I believe everyone deserves help but government assistance should be life long or generational. If you have a child before getting married you should at the least have your degree and a job that pays more then minimum wage. If your still in high school I think you should really consider adoption because once your in the whole of welfare the system is geared to keep you there. I do have a few questions, I've seen stories like this with single mothers and others with the father there. I say the same as others, were you already struggling when you had baby number 1 and if so why go back for more? It makes the situation worse for you and the kinds. This leads to generation after generation of girls on welfare having more babies they can handle or afford and more young men ending up in prison. If he's already been to jail, has no job and/or has other kids with more then 1 female why on God's green earth would you choose him to reproduce with. All that said the system needs a make over to make welfare some your on for a while not a life time. We need a working wage that people can live on and affordable housing. The housing market is going up but wages aren't. No matter what your job is there should be housing you can afford if you are working a full week especially if there are 2 of you. But that doesn't take away the fact that way too many females are choosing the wrong males to be the father of their kids and they are having too many. If you are already on public assistance you should be on birth control until you are back on your feet.
