They borrowed. Billions to drill lots of wells and now we have a glut of oil. Many of these companies also keep billions in offshore tax havens. It is just free market consequences for the greedy and inefficient management.

For decades they gouged us, beginning with colluding with Henry Kissinger in the early 1970s. When I was in college, gas was 34cents a gallon. After Kissinger, it was over $1 and they stifled supply and we ended up waiting for hours to get gas. Are any of you old enough to remember even and odd days? So, I feel absolutely no sympathy for them. What about shutting off the crude, oil companies?
