I feel that the Angels need to come out with 2 of the 3 RYU Madbum and Rendon and if it is Rendon still get the best pitchers you can. They are lucky Maddon is there and they need to capitalize.

Another good thing about the Cole signing is that it makes Houston a much weaker team, thus not much of a threat to anyone anymore. Just desserts for a team of cheaters.

Cole's overpaid. He's benefiting based on the recency effect. Career numbers are worse than Bumgarner's and nowhere near as good as Kershaw's. Media people don't mention that he was 7-10 and 12-12 with over a 4+ era for two previous years during his career. MadBum goes 3.26 and 3.9 which is coming off serious injuries and his market value goes way down? This is lower than Cole's numbers during a 2-yr stretch. Madbum is the best postseason pitcher of this era. The yanks overpay that's what they do. Will see how it plays out. Bumgarner will be a more accomplished career pitcher than Cole when it's all said and done. There is absolutely no evidence that Bumgarner will not win another 131 games which combined with his 3 chips and iconic ws performance will make him the best pitcher of the generation. Ken Rosenthal pointed out that Madbum had thie best spin rate on his 4-seam fastball and his strikeout/walk ratio is high. He is regaining his form after the injuries. Only Trout is worth this kind of money. This will go down as a bad contract…maybe as bad as Jacoby'.

I wonder why fans even watch baseball when a team like the Yankees can buy all the smaller teams stars. Teams with smaller payrolls get screwed year after year and all they do is act like farm teams for the Yankees and Dodgers. It would tickle me if they all went broke.
