It was redemption for Amanda Anisimova at her home Grand Slam tournament.

Less than two months ago, she suffered a heartbreaking 6-0 6-0 defeat to Iga Swiatek in her maiden Major final at Wimbledon.

Now, she’s beaten Swiatek 6-4 6-3 to reach the US Open semis.

Afterwards, Anisimova explained: “Yeah, I mean, playing here is so freaking special and I’ve been having the run of my life here.

“I mean, the first day I got here, I was like, ‘Okay let’s try and get through one round’. This has been such a dream, and to come back from Wimbledon like that, it’s really special to me.

“I feel like I worked so hard to try and turn around from that, and, I mean, today proved everything for me. I can do it. So this is really special.”
