Manchester United left it too late to stop Ander Herrera heading to France with Paris Saint-Germain.
Herrera, who left United on a free transfer, said: “I don’t like looking at the past but, there were differences regarding the project and my importance within it.
“I was very happy, I have a lot to thank the club for, the fans and also [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer.
“He did a lot for me to stay, but things didn’t happen. They arrived late and, by then, I’d already made the decision to play in Paris.”

10:00 UPDATE: West Ham confirm Arnautovic exit
West Ham have brutally announced Marko Arnautovic’s departure in a terse, two-sentence statement.
It read: “West Ham United can confirm that Marko Arnautovic has joined Chinese Super League champions Shanghai SIPG for an undisclosed fee.
“The 30-year-old Austrian departs after two seasons at London Stadium, during which he scored 22 goals in 65 appearances in Claret and Blue.”
Arnautovic agitated for a move to China in January before being handed a pay rise by the east London club.

09:50 UPDATE: Man City to axe Stones?
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been advised to ditch John Stones ahead of next season.
Former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop said: “Yeah, [Stones possibly leaving] is a hit. I don’t think that needs any and of explanation in all honesty.
“He just hasn’t lived up to expectation. He no longer features in your plans. Whatever you get for him, you take.”
Stones cost City a little under ÂŁ50m when he left Everton for the Etihad three years ago.

09:20 UPDATE: Crystal Palace transfer scrap
Crystal Palace and Bordeaux look set to battle it out for Fabio Borini this summer, reports in Italy say.
Borini has previously plied his trade in England with Chelsea, Swansea, Liverpool and Sunderland.
And he could be on his way back to the Premier League with AC Milan listening to offers for him.
Tutto Mercato Web reckon Palace and Bordeaux are sniffing around the 28-year-old with the transfer window now in full swing.

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Maguire to shore up his defence ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
And The Sun reckon United have been given a clear run at Maguire after Manchester City ended their interest in him.
Leicester’s £85m valuation is said to have put the Premier League champions off signing the England international.

08:50 UPDATE: Klopp eyes next job
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could take the reins of the German national team when he leaves Anfield.
His agent Marc Kosicke has confirmed the 52-year-old is interested in leading his country one day.
“Jurgen himself once said that in the event that Joachim Low someday no longer wants to be the national coach and it would be possible for him do that,” Kosicke said. “This is an option for him.”
Klopp has previously been linked with the Juventus and Real Madrid jobs having led Liverpool back to European football’s top table.

08:35 UPDATE: Massive West Ham deal
West Ham are reportedly set to replace the departed Marko Arnautovic with Maxi Gomez.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol said: “Big statement of intent by West Ham. Set to break club record by signing Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo for ÂŁ45m.
“Valencia have dropped out. Gomez turning down Champions League football at Valencia to join West Ham.”
Arnautovic has quit West Ham for the Chinese Super League, six months on from signing a new contract at the London Stadium.

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been tipped to follow in Jack Clarke’s footsteps and join Tottenham, by former Spurs forward Darren Bent.
“I’d like to see Kalvin Phillips move on, he’s earned that Premier League status,” Bent said.
“He can go to Spurs, quite easily. That holding role, getting about the pitch and making tackles and that, I can see him at Tottenham easily.
“They’re crying out for that player, so I can see him going there and he might not start straight away, might have to bide his time, but I can guarantee you once he gets in there he won’t come out.”

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says it will take a bumper offer to prise Alfredo Morelos away from Ibrox.
“As a club, we haven’t got a decision to make because a bid hasn’t come in. Will it? Possibly,” Gerrard said.
“However, if it does happen, it won’t happen late. If someone wants to spend a lot of money on a centre forward and they want to take my centre forward, they’d have to come early.
“If he did end up going, he would be impossible to replace with only days or weeks remaining in the window.”

Liverpool duo Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi are set to arrive at Melwood today amid speculation over their respective futures.
Shaqiri has been linked with an Anfield exit having struggled to make an impression during the second half of last season.
Origi, who has a year left on his contract, is been tipped for a move with his agent supposedly touting him around Europe.
However, Liverpool announced on Sunday evening that the duo are set to head back to Merseyside to undergo testing.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard must keep four of his young guns at Stamford Bridge next season, says former Blues striker Tony Cascarino.
“I’ll be interested in what Frank does with someone like [Fikayo] Tomori, who he had at Derby, who was a Chelsea loanee to Derby last year,” Cascarino said.
“If you asked most Derby fans, he was their best player last year. I think it will be interesting on Mason Mount, what he does with Mason Mount.
“He’s got [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek, he’s got [Callum] Hudson-Odoi. So he’s got lots and lots of good players at his football club.”

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is eager to get deals for Romaine Sawyers and Tommy Smith over the line to help bolster his squad.

Brentford midfielder Sawyers and Huddersfield defender Smith are could arrive at Parkhead for a combined ÂŁ5.5m this summer.

Arsenal flop Shkodran Mustafi seems to think his days in north London are numbered.
Mustafi has failed to deliver on the hype which saw Arsene Wenger fork out ÂŁ35m to sign him from Valencia three years ago.
And Unai Emery is now happy to cut ties with the Germany international, who has previously been eyed up by Inter Milan.
Mustafi has now dropped a clue he might be heading for the exit door by removing “Player for Arsenal” from his Instagram bio.

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne is not short of suitors following his loan spell at Bournemouth last season.
The former Crystal Palace right-back has been pushed down the pecking order at Anfield following the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
And the Liverpool Echo reckon Napoli are keen to offer a fresh start to the ÂŁ10m-rated 28-year-old.

Manchester United need Paulo Dyala to agree to being included in a deal for Paul Pogba to have a chance of landing the Argentine.
That is according to Italian transfer guru Tancredi Palmieri, who says Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been identified as a direct replacement for Pogba.
“Manchester United actively working on getting Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio. Starting price 75m€,” Palmieri tweeted. “Opening the way to Pogba.
“Juventus and Real Madrid on him, but Real Madrid at the moment way ahead on offer, unless Dybala would accept to be in swap.”
