HALF-TIME – Nottingham Forest 0-0 Bournemouth

Boos as the whistle goes at the City Ground. Forest fans are not happy with Boly’s sending off and the defender did look very unucky to receive a second yellow.

If you could get VAR for yellow cards it might well have been overturned as he comfortably won the ball in his challenge.

HALF-TIME – Tottenham 2-0 Everton

Ange Postecoglou will be delighted his side have kept a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Everton will be kicking themselves over their missed chances.

HALF-TIME – Fulham 0-0 Burnley

No goals at Craven Cottage though Fulham did appeal for a penalty for handball just before the break.

Rebecca Welch having a good afternoon so far in her first game in charge of a Premier League game.

HALF-TIME – Luton 1-0 Newcastle

Andros Townsend’s goal is enough to separate the sides on an emotional afternoon for Luton Town.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

McNeil wants a penalty as he goes down and Royal is forced into some desperate defending to take the ball off the boot of Harrison.

Fulham 0-0 Burnley

Brilliant save by James Trafford who has to adjust his hands in mid-air to keep out Alex Iwobi’s deflected attempt.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

Tottenham need half-time as Garner forces a save from Vicario after some lovely play between Harrison, Onana and Gomes.

Moments later there’s pinball in the Spurs box and an attempted clearance by Skipp bounces off Mykolenko and loops just wide.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

There’s a VAR check as a ball over the top sees Calvert-Lewin go to ground between Vicario and Ben Davies following a mix-up by the Tottenham pair.

There is a brief pause in play but no penalty is awarded.

Nottingham Forest 0-0 Bournemouth

After a VAR review no penalty!

Harry Toffolo’s cross is blocked by Adam Smith and there’s a check whether it hit his arm but it’s judged that all is fine and no penalty for ten-man Forest.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

Spurs living life on the edge as they give the ball away and Harrison is fed down the right. His cross is headed away by Sarr but only to Garner whose volley from the edge of the box deflects into the gloves of Vicario.

Meanwhile there could be a penalty on the way at the City Ground…

Luton 1-0 Newcastle

Great save by the Newcastle keeper with his feet but it’s a big miss from Adebayo who has left Newcastle off at Kenilworth Road.

Luton 1-0 Newcastle

Nearly an absolute screamer from Ross Barkley who rifles a shot from distance off the crossbar and it bounces out to safety for the Magpies.

Tottenham 2-0 Everton

There’s also a yellow card at Tottenham as Onana cynically takes out Emerson Royal.

Sean Dyche has been very animated on the sideline and this game has not gone to plan for the Toffees so far as they search for their fifth straight league victory.

Fulham 0-0 Burnley

Boos ring out at Craven Cottage as Rebecca Welch reaches for a yellow card and waves it in front of Calvin Bassey after his swinging arm catches Josh Brownhill.

Bassey is clearly unhappy with the decision and so are the locals but Welch has done a good job so far.

GOAL – Luton 1-0 Newcastle (Townsend 25)

Andros Townsend puts Luton Town ahead of Newcastle with a header from a nicely worked corner routine – a massive goal for the hosts.

He runs to collect a Lockyet shirt and holds it up which is a nice touch to their captain.

RED CARD – Willy Bolly (Nottingham Forest)

It’s a second yellow card for Boly and it’s disaster for Nuno in his first game in charge!

Luton 0-0 Newcastle

After a slow start Newcastle are now in the ascendancy.

Bruno Guimaraes screams for handball after Osho threw himself at the shot, but it looked to hit his face. Brief VAR check reveals that is indeed what happened.

Not long after Gordon places a wicket ball towards Wilson who forces a brilliant save from Kaminski before Bell turns the rebound over his own bar – but it could have gone anywhere.

GOAL – Tottenham 2-0 Everton (Son 18)

It is 2-0 now as Son Heung-min doubles the lead as he taps home after some poor defending by Everton.

Jordan Pickford should do better but Tottenham won’t care.

It came not long after Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed his second good chance of the game.

Tottenham have been the clinical side and they have been rewarded.

Tottenham 1-0 Everton

It should be 2-0 as Brennan Johnson somehow skies an effort over the bar after some good work from Son Heung-min and Emerson Royal down the left flank.

Luton 0-0 Newcastle

Andros Townsend has a shot which goes well over and lands of the roof the stand and disappears down a hole to accomodate a drain pipe. Only at Kenilworth Road.

GOAL – Tottenham 1-0 Everton (Richarlison 10)

Tottenham are the first to strike in the 3pm kick-offs and it’s Richarlison who scores against his former side.

Pape Sarr finds Brennan Johnson down the right flank and his low cross is swept home by the Brazilian international.

Standing ovation for Lockyer

Four minutes gone and there’s a standing ovation for their number four Tom Lockyer.

It’s been a good start for Luton who hit the post after Adebayo’s cutback found Brown who struck the foot of the woodwork before the rebound is then struck off the upright again!

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Royal’s headed clearance from a Garner corner is poor and the ball goes out to Mykolenko who scuffs his shot into the ground and into the gloves of Vicario.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Very early chance at Tottenham as Dejan Kulusevski finds Pape Sarr whose volley bounces off the turf and goes wide.

At the other end Dominic Calvert-Lewin is penalised for a foul on Cristian Romero.

And we’re off!

Whistles blow around the country and the four matches are underway.

Here come the teams…

The players are making their way out onto the pitch and all four matches will be getting underway shortly.

Trippier in need of a good showing

Kieran Trippier has had a December to forget with a number of costly mistakes for Newcastle.

He gifted a late equaliser to Chelsea in their Carabao Cup clash mid-week before sending a penalty comfortably wide of the post. He also made two mistakes against Everton and struggled against Son Heung-min in their defeat to Newcastle.

A good showing before Christmas could just be the remedy that Trippier needs as the year reaches its climax.

Tottenham players head out for their warm-up

Result from the early kick-off

West Ham have jumped ahead of Manchester United in the table after a 2-0 victory at the London Stadium.

United now have 13 defeats this season in all competitions – the most they’ve had at this stage of a season since 1930!

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus netted the goals for the Hammers who are now sixth, with Man United languishing in eighth.

Rebecca Welch inspects the pitch

Rebecca Welch has been out on the pitch at Craven Cottage to inspect it before Fulham’s 3pm kick-off with Burnley.

You can only imagine what’s on her mind as she makes Premier League history this afternoon.

Lockyer on Luton supporters’ minds

Luton Town players have special tops during their warm-ups with Lockyer’s name and number on and supporters are showing support for the club’s captain in their own ways including face paint and banners.

How they would love to pick up three points for him this afternoon.

Rebecca Welch becomes the Premier League’s first female referee

History will be made today when Rebecca Welch becomes the Premier League’s first female referee when she officiates Fulham’s clash with Burnley.

Wendy Toms was the Premier League’s first female linesman back in 1997.

It was her who broke down the gates and kept them wide open for Welch and others.

Not that Toms ever complained as she was called ‘f***ing hopeless’ by Andy Gray; or as she had security marshal her in the Premier League; or as she was turned away from grounds because of her gender. This was all while juggling a 27-year career at Parcelforce.

Welcome back Nuno

Talking of Tottenham, this is a big day for their former manager Nuno Espirito Santo who returns to Premier League management at the helm of Nottingham Forest.

Forest parted ways with popular manager Steve Cooper and have opted to go for Santo – despite some concerns among their fans.

Santo will be a man with something to prove, after his stock took a serious dent at Tottenham after his impressive time in charge of Wolves.

Tottenham players arrive

Tottenham have seen the beginnings of a return to form with recent victories over Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.

But they know they’re in for a real challenge this afternoon against an Everton side who have been in excellent form since they were handed a ten point deduction.

A win for Spurs would push them inside the top-four at the expense of Man City – although Pep Guardiola’s side would have a game in hand.

Luton play for first time since Lockyer’s collapse

It has been a week of raw emotion at Luton Town. An awful, stressful week but ultimately a happy one.

From the horror of Tom Lockyer’s cardiac arrest on the pitch at Bournemouth and the relief of his swift resuscitation and return home to the immense depth of gratitude for those who helped save his life and those who showed they cared.

It has been a whirl but a hint of normality settled upon the training base this week and some of those feelings were beginning to crystallise as boss Rob Edwards spoke publicly about it for the first time ahead of their game with Newcastle.
