The 21-year-old is having a breakout season for the Portuguese club and Milan see the young prospect as a cheaper option than pursuing Meret or Musso.
Maximiano’s current deal keeps him at Sporting until 2023, but according to Portuguese publication A Bola, the club are preparing to hold talks with the player about increasing his current £80,000 (€90k) a year contract and including a buyout clause in any new deal.
As for Chelsea, reports in Italy have suggested that Milan will be looking for a fee of £54million (€60m) for Donnarumma.
Lampard dropped Kepa earlier in the season after the manager criticised the 25-year-old for errors that he believes cost the Blues valuable points.
As a result, they could now look towards Donnarumma, who has already made 190 appearances for Milan in all competitions and his performances have also earned him 16 caps for Italy.
