But it was Trump himself who stole the show as viewers believed he looked like he was snoozing just as government official Dr. Mehmet Oz said: “People can sleep again.” One viewer wrote: “Is he practicing sleeping and breathing? This is hilarious.” Another said: “He looks like he is out cold. Could you imagine what Republicans would say if Joe had a press conference and did this?”

His supporters chimed in and hit back: “I know a man that is just resting his eyes when I see one. He’s listening I swear.” One added: “He is just exhausted from working 20 hours a day for the American people.”

Speaking about the benefits of signing a weight loss drugs deal, Dr Oz added: “They can breathe when they go to bed. Folks whose knees don’t hurt, people who don’t have heart attacks, renal failure, dementia. All the things we know are associated with obesity and much more.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement that the man who fainted “represented” one of the companies that was involved in the deal. She said: “The White House Medical Unit quickly jumped into action, and the gentleman is okay.” After reporters were later let back in, Trump said the man was “fine.”

Trump recently responded to rumours about his health by revealing he had a ‘perfect’ MRI scan on a hospital visit. The 79-year-old told reporters on Air Force One that he received the scan during a recent trip to Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland – but did not explain why.

The military hospital has long been the location of choice for US presidents having medical evaluations and treatments. Trump – who will become the oldest president in US history if he makes it to the end of his term – has been the subject of increasing speculation over recent months after observers noticed unusual recurring bruises on the back of his hand.

In July, the White House confirmed Trump was examined for swelling in his legs and has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.

Responding to a question about whether he had visited the hospital aboard Air Force One, he told reporters: “I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect.
