If there’s one thing you can count on from a Dakota Johnson daytime ensemble, it’s a powerful combination of denim and loafers. Whether she’s rocking chunky soles with wide-leg jeans or her highly favored cigarette jeans and penny loafers, Johnson rarely strays from her signature footwear when it comes to everyday dressing. Even when she does switch out her loafers for another flat shoe, it’s typically a more casual sneaker for an even more laid-back look. Not on February 12, 2026.

During a recent outing in New York City, Johnson recently switched things up, pairing her best black cigarette jeans with lace-up LEGRES ankle boots, which originally retail for $1,160 but are currently sold out in her chosen paneled eelskin, which add a bit of texture to the military-inspired footwear. You can still purchase the look in black leather for $925.

What’s so appealing about this spring boot is their comfortable fit and elevated, androgynous structure, which looks very similar to an Oxford dress shoe when paired with Johnson’s black Agolde straight-leg ’90s jeans. She finished off the look with her usual blend of the ecclectic and effortless, layering an oversized grey sweater with a belted leather trench and adding pops of color and pattern with a red scarf by The Row and a vintage Prada calf-hair leopard print bag.
