Spring has sprung—and our feeds are filling up with the pearl nail polish ideas to prove it. While this dreamy nail look has a beachy motif, it’s also super versatile. Softer than mirror chrome, but just dimensional as cat-eye, the pearl mani can act as an elevated neutral for any season. (Translation: It’s definitely not too early to book yours.)
Pearl nails can be as simple as a wash of iridescent polish (a bridal favorite!), or as ornate as a sculptural, gold-accented set. However you’re wearing them, the trick is finding a polish or chrome powder with the right pearlescent shimmer. For a traditional pearl look, your favorite milky white nail shade will make the perfect base—but don’t be afraid to mix things up with a pale pink or lavender shade. A touch of color will keep your nails looking pearly rather than icy.
While smooth, classic pearl nails are always an elegant choice, this trend is also the perfect excuse to add some texture. Borrow a trick from the pros and try out the ‘swirl’ technique for a realistic pearl look: Generously dot your gel or traditional pearl nail polish onto your nail, then use a dotting tool (or a toothpick, in a pinch) to swirl the polish together until you form an even layer. The result is a realistic mother of pearl texture. Cure and seal with a glossy top coat for added shine.
