Chelsea have reportedly shelved plans to sign a new goalkeeper this summer meaning Kepa Arrizabalaga will be given another chance to resurrect his career at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard is being backed to rebuild the squad this summer and has already captured Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner’s £53million release clause has also been triggered by the Blues.

It was thought Chelsea may also look to bring in a new shot-stopper but the Daily Mail claim they will put their faith in Kepa.

However, that stance would change if they receive a bid which enables them to recoup the majority of the world-record £71.6million they paid Athletic Bilbao.

The 25-year-old has had a turbulent start to life in west London and was dropped for six games earlier this year.

Lampard recalled the Spaniard to the starting XI in February and he was rewarded with clean sheets against Liverpool and Everton.

The Daily Mail adds that Chelsea have a plan to boost the squad further after capturing Werner.

They will apparently launch a £75m bid for Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz, who is on Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich’s radar.

Willian and Pedro both set to leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season so Lampard is in the market for attacking reinforcements.

Chelsea will have the funds to spend this summer because they have come out of a two-window transfer ban.

There has been little investment in the squad over recent windows but the likes of Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata have been moved off for decent fees.
