EXCLUSIVE: Love Island newcomer Aidan Murphy has confessed Michelle Keegan is his celebrity crush and joked he would shake husband Mark Wright’s hand for ‘doing very well’

Love Island newbie Aidan Murphy has already revealed the famous beauty he would love to couple up with after leaving the villa and it is bad news for Mark Wright.

The 23-year-old property broker from Kent is preparing to enter the ITV dating show this summer, but before even stepping foot inside the Mallorca villa he admitted his celebrity crush is none other than former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan. Speaking ahead of his Love Island debut, Aidan confessed: “My celebrity crush is Michelle Keegan, so that’s what you need to know.”

And while Michelle is happily married to Heart FM presenter and former TOWIE star Mark Wright, Aidan admitted he can only respect the TV personality for landing one of Britain’s most admired women.

Asked about Michelle’s husband, Aidan joked: “I’d shake Mark Wright’s hand and say fair enough mate. Fair play. You’ve done very well mate.”

The cheeky confession comes as Love Island gears up to return to screens next week with a brand new line up of singletons all hoping to find romance, fame and probably a bit of villa chaos along the way.

Aidan is among the 12 Islanders heading to sunny Mallorca for the 2026 series and says he plans to stay true to himself while getting to know as many people as possible in the villa.

“For me, it’s about being myself,” he explained. “I’m confident in my personality, so I think that will come across naturally.”

The Kent lad also admitted he enjoys a bit of drama even if he tries not to get directly involved.

While he insists he will not be the one causing arguments, he confessed he would definitely be “listening” if things kicked off and perhaps stirring the pot “slightly”.

Despite signing up for one of the biggest reality shows in the UK, Aidan revealed he actually had not watched much of Love Island before applying.

He admitted he only started properly tuning in once the casting process became more serious.

“Some of the older series like when Molly Mae and Tommy were on were good,” he said.

“Anything recent, I didn’t really watch it. Applying was a bit of an ordinary thing at first and then once it got more serious I thought I better start watching it and see what I’ve got myself into.”

When it comes to relationships, Aidan says personality matters more than looks and he wants someone who is fun, relaxed and does not take themselves too seriously.

“I like someone who can take a joke,” he explained. “If we’re constantly laughing and getting on, that’s what matters most.”

Whether he finds his own Michelle Keegan in the villa remains to be seen.

Love Island starts on Monday 1st June on ITV2 and ITVX
