EXCLUSIVE: Madonna’s producer gives the Daily Star a peak at her new Confessions II album and says it’s reawakened the pop legend

Madonna has found a kindred spirit in pop whipper-snapper Sabrina Carpenter.

Stuart Price, the UK producer behind Madonna’s upcoming new LP Confessions II, was blown away by the “amazing chemistry” between the two singers on their song, Bring Your Love.

Price explained: “Madonna was very insistent on this record, everything was done in the room. There was no remote, everything was was done in the moment together, so that you feel the music together. Her and Sabrina just connected directly, they weren’t put together by anyone.

“Because you’ve got one of the biggest stars of this in the world at the moment, and one of the biggest stars of all time, ‘How’s that going to come together?’

“But their physical chemistry from the second they got together in the studio was really immediate. It was brilliant to be around. They were funny together, they shared a lot of experiences.”

The Daily Star joined Price for an early peak at the new LP which is a continuous 16 song mix that Madonna herself calls a “banger”.

She’s not wrong, as the icon turns back the clock to revisit her early club days on Danceteria which pays its respects to early hip hop and Chic records. Then there’s arms-in-the-air future classics, Good For The Soul and Love Sensation which will uplift fans of all ages.

Price revealed they became vampires as they would only work at night from “10:00 p.m. and I don’t think we finished anything before 3:00 a.m.”

It promises to be one of Madonna’s finest collections and Price felt a “reawakening…within Madonna” who really enjoyed performing and connecting with fans again calling her a” visionary” and “also a fantastic teacher.”

The music is about escapism and worshipping the dancefloor mostly, but Madonna also shows a vulnerability and reflects on the challenges she has gone through.

One highlight titled Fragile is about the loss of her brother Christopher in 2024 with lyrics that deal with how “energy never dies”.

Price said: “Madonna’s gone on record to say she lost her brother during the making of the record. It was a process of grieving and the most powerful music is shared experience.”

The title came as a surprise to the hitmaker though as he didn’t realise they were making a follow-up album.

“That was as much as a surprise to me as I think anyone else,” he said. “Because Madonna so good assembling all the music and the ideas that are ahead of her and conceptualising what that means to her.

“Personally, my observation is that her greatest success as an artist is where she’s documenting who she is, where she’s at, what she’s seeing, sometimes it’s not comfortable, sometimes it’s not obvious, sometimes it’s very obvious, but I think that success comes from where she’s just very observational in her world.

“And immediately with the lyrics she said, ‘you know, this is this is a very confessional record’, and then she decided it very quickly and posted online ‘who’s ready for confessions?’”

The record is a throwback in more ways than one for both Madonna and Price who revealed they even used the same cheap microphone that he bought “28 years ago” held together by Sellotape.

Confessions II is out July 3.
