George Clooney celebrated his citizenship in France by speaking French at the Golden Globes following his row with President Donald Trump

Hollywood star George Clooney celebrated getting his citizenship in France by speaking French at the Golden Globes. The actor recently made the permanent move alongside his French-British-Lebanese wife Amal and their twins.

So far, it seems to be going well as George and Amal appeared happier than ever on the red carpet, and he was proud to show his new country some love when he took to the stage to present an award.

Addressing the star-studded crowd, the 64-year-old said Bonsoir, mes amis. C’est un honneur d’être ici” (it’s an honor to be here).

President Donald Trump, who has had several run-ins with the star, had an extreme reaction to his move last month.

He said: “Good News! George and Amal Clooney, two of the worst political prognosticators of all time, have officially become citizens of France which is, sadly, in the midst of a major crime problem because of their absolutely horrendous handling of immigration, much like we had under Sleepy Joe Biden.”

To which George replied: “I totally agree with the current president. We have to make America great again. We’ll start in November”, referring to the upcoming midterm elections.

George has recently said that the move to France has offered his family a fresh start, somewhere more pure and less-complicated.

He shared: “We live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it.”

He added it’s better for the children: “They’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.”
