Tattoos are less of a taboo nowadays, but extreme collections can still cause a fright. We take a look at some of the world’s most inked people and their difficulties around Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner and it unfortunately looks like some people don’t need a mask to cause a flurry of frights.

While many people will be popping to the shops last minute in pursuit of a spooky – or sexy – costume, others have had their ‘fancy dress’ nailed down for years – and permanently so.

However, for these few people, their assumed Halloween outfits are actually a sprawl of inkings that have turned them into walking canvases. But, around the creepiest time of the year, they’re often mistaken as terrifying figures.

Here, we take a look at some of the world’s most tattooed people and their awkward experiences around Halloween.

Melissa Sloan

Mum-of-seven Melissa is widely thought to be the most tattooed woman in the UK. The 43-year-old, from Kidderminster, has spent over half of her life inking her body with designs – mostly at-home ‘prison style’ etchings administered from her partner, Luke.

Melissa has over 800 tattoos dotted around the majority of her body, although she’s admittedly ‘lost count’ on the total she’s collected on her skin.

However, it’s the three layers of face tattoos that have caused Melissa the most trouble. She claims that she’s been barred from pubs, banks and even churches because of her ‘threatening’ appearance.

And the worst time of year for prejudice? Melissa says it’s Halloween. She’s had to ‘hide’ in bushes when taking her youngest children trick or treating and others think her tattoos are a ‘monster mask’.

Speaking to us previously, Melissa said: “People say I don’t need a costume because I’m scary enough. They don’t know the inside of me, bless them.

“I just take no notice of them as there’s nothing I can do, nothing I can do. I just carry on with the tattoos, more tattoos.

Melissa shared that she’s never been invited to a Halloween party and that children do not come knocking on her door because of, what she believes, her society-deterrent etchings.

King of Ink Land

It looks like ‘Britain’s most tattooed man’ has a similar problem to Melissa. The King Of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-Ite,45, recently revealed that children are often ‘scared’ of him – and even adults think he’s a ‘Halloween clown’.

The Birmingham bloke, who holds the world record for having 36 artists ink him simultaneously, has spent over £40,000 and 1,600 hours getting inked.

He’s even officially changed his name from Mathew Whelan to the long ink-inspired moniker in a nod to his love of body modification.

Although, it appears that not everyone is so fond of his appearance. That’s apart from Halloween when he often gets compliments from adults about his Halloween clown ‘costume’.

But, for The King Of Ink Land, these come as insults. Recently speaking to What’s The Jam, the tattoo enthusiast said: “I had someone today comment that she liked my Halloween makeup.

“Kids tend to just stare at me; they never run off. I think it’s because they have a developing brain and are curious. And are grasping the difference between scary and alternatively different. If I were so scary, they would run away.

“I’ve actually had adults over the years terrified of my appearance. A few with phobias of clowns aren’t able to look at me.

“They apologise, though.”

Amber Luke

Australia’s ‘most tattooed’ woman Amber Luke has leaned into the paranormal look over the years. The 30-year-old Brisbane-native has spent over £193,000 on her inkings and modifications – including ‘vampire thangs’.

Alternative model Amber is often labelled an “ugly freak” due to her extreme appearance that she has been working on for 10 years.

Not only has she got countless of tattoos, the model has a split tongue, ear stretching, a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) and various other cosmetic procedures.

However, it appears her eyeball inkings are the most controversial when it comes to the general public. Amber previously shared that people think her eyeball tattoos are part of a ‘fancy dress’.

The model said: “I dress up but people think my eyeball tattoos are contacts all the time. They don’t even know that eyeball tattoos exist!”.

“I got my eye balls tattooed at 22-years-old. I had a few leg tats, a floating neck tattoo and a few others scattered on my body.

“I listened to people tell me day in and day out that I ‘ruined’ myself & that I had no future any more.”

She’s now planning on removing her tattoos after spending years building up the extreme look – including the 36 on her face.

Toxii

Toxii, from Belgium, has taken body modification to the extreme. The 31-year-old has only been modifying her natural appearance for four years – but is already compared to “satan” or an “alien.”

The Instagram influencer has tattooed much of her body in black ink blocks, sports tattooed eyeballs and a matching inked tongue.

However, the most shocking – apart from her implant ‘devil’ horns – is that she got part of her nose removed and keeps it in a jar.

It makes her the first woman in the world to have her nose removed purely for cosmetic and aesthetic reasons. Though, people are less impressed and more “scared.”

“Sometimes people are scared,” Toxii admitted while being interviewed about her unconventional appearance earlier in the year.

Toxii has also undergone a procedure called ‘scarification’ – where she purposely gets areas of her body scarred.

And it’s not just her nose in a jar. She collects any trimmings from her body in “little jars.”
