Locals in an area of Liverpool claim they are being terrorised into staying in their homes due to anti-social behaviour. They say they are living in one of the most “lawless” areas of the city overrun by ‘feral’ children.

Residents in the Garston area of the seaside city have admitted they are hunkering down as a result of yobs causing untold chaos in the area. Some go as far as to say the youths run the area, with kids as young as six allegedly causing destruction and seemingly ruling the city with fear.

People living in the area report seeing youngsters involved in gangs in the area, who wreak havoc by setting fires, breaking into homes and carrying knives. Families have been left traumatised by what they have seen and felt and are now calling on Merseyside Police to step up to the plate and help.

The worst-affected part of the town is Garston-under-the-bridge, where huge issues of anti-social behaviour have been seen in recent months. But it now seems the lawlessness is reaching new levels in the area, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Reports of residents having windows bashed in and troublemakers barging into properties while people are still inside have been made. Reports of racism and homophobia are also on the rise, while young kids have been spotted with knives and setting fires.

Local councillors are aware of the incidents and have campaigned for help to deal with the anti-social epidemic. Calls are now being made for Merseyside Police to have a more visible presence in the area, with concerned campaigners insisting kids are being “groomed” into a life of gang violence and petty crime.

The police force admits there has been a rise in anti-social behaviour in the area, but has claimed that it is doing all it can to crack down. Some residents, however, are not convinced, and feared they could be targeted merely for speaking out.

One person said: “If you say anything, they threaten to fire bomb your house.” The anonymous resident added living in the area has been “hell” for the past two years, but that the destruction gets worse during the school summer holidays.

“These gangs of kids are going around intimidating people, smashing people’s windows, starting fires, throwing things at people — it is absolutely horrible.”

She went as far as to say kids in the area are “literally feral” and “don’t fear the police at all”. She also added it was apparent the delinquents had no fear for the potential repercussions of their actions, because “they know nothing will happen”.

Another woman revealed that she was looking into the possibility of moving house as a result of the vitriolic abuse she has received, saying it left her with depression and anxiety to even leave home. She blasted police for saying they are doing the best they can but they have never been spotted in the area.

“I have never been terrified of children before, we are now moving out because we can’t take it anymore,” she explained. “We have not been able to enjoy any of our time in this house.”
