Poundland shoppers have been given a three-week warning as the company’s future is in doubt. Anyone looking to buy cheap products on the discount retailer’s website were being met with a massive warning notice this morning.

Bosses have confirmed that online sales will stop and that the rewards scheme is also ending – on September 16.

The notice, which is found by clicking on a big yellow warning bar on the top of the site, details how the website will only be made available for “browsing” from that date, as confirmation of the future of its loyalty scheme was confirmed.

Poundland is a British variety store chain founded in 1990 which once sold most items at the single price of £1, including clearance items and brands. The struggling brand, which is in competition with many other discount retailers, was recently sold for a nominal one pound to investment firm Gordon Brothers who are set to restructure it's offering and close many stores. The statement in full:

“Poundland.co.uk is changing, and Poundland Perks is closing.

“From the September 16, our website will be for browsing only and Poundland Perks will be closing – but you’ll still be able to use your vouchers.

“We’re currently working very hard behind the scenes to simplify and refocus our stores. And that means very soon there’ll be even more ranges at £1 and new items to choose from each week, but unfortunately, we will no longer be providing an online delivery service from the 16th September 2025.

“While we know most of our online shoppers also visit us regularly in stores (thank you!), we know this will be disappointing to all who’ve been using our online ordering service.

“We’re also closing Poundland Perks on the 16th September 2025, but you’ll still be able to use your vouchers.

“As we work hard to simplify and refocus Poundland, delivering the absolute best value to every one of our customers in our stores, we’ll be retiring our Perks app.

“But don’t worry, any reward vouchers that you’ve already earned will stay in the app, and you’ll be able to redeem them in-store until the 15th January 2026.

“This means that we’ll focus on having the best prices, for everyone, in all of our stores – no need for an account, data, membership or vouchers. Just amazing value every day.

“We’ll miss you shopping on our website, but it will still be here for you so that you can check out our exciting year-round and seasonal product ranges and find all our store locations and opening times.

“We really look forward to welcoming you to one of our hundreds of stores right across the UK.

“Thanks again for all your support – The Poundland.co.uk & Perks Digital Teams.”
